Dansby will be a Cardinal for years to come.. Settle down .. This aint insider knowledge.. Just something I believe to be true.. Calvin Pace wasnt exactly a big booming FA last year.. Poor choice KD..

I just wanna say that it would be nice to have him respond to those kind of questions with the words: "i'll deal with contract issues or what i'm worth later. Right now, there's a game to be played that needs my total focus."

The other issue here is who else is on the market. Ravens are losing three LB's. Steelers may be putting Foote on the market (Not at the top level, but he can be had for a good price and will be a very good producer), Dansby as well?

That is 5 LB's that can be good upgrade on many teams. The question is, Does that drive the price up for LB's to the point where Dansby may be wanting to make a HUGE payday, or does it drive the price down where Dansby decides to stay for a year or two more?

On top of that, the question is how much your head coach has learned from the Rooneys and their refusal to pay outrages salaries so that they consistantly stay out of cap trouble.

I see many of you saying, "We have the cap room, sign them both!" But what happens next year or the year after when you are all of a sudden 4 mill over the cap because of bonuses and some dead money that creeps up on you from someplace?

It will be interesting to watch.

I have no problem with these comments. The Cardinals basically told him put up or shut up and he did. Pay the man. We are not going to get a MLB anywhere cheaper and he definitely deserves Pace money.

Dansby only cares about money. The contract Pace got screwed us cause he wants more and will prob get it. Franchise him and trade or keep him hungry for another year with no deal.
Caring about money is a part of their job to a point. He's franchised this year and has played deserving enough for a new deal on par with Pace. I don't really see the problem here. Franchising someone in consecutive years is financially stupid and the best way to stir up trouble.

Don't forget Miller turned down a multi-year deal from us to take the 1yr deal w/ the Browns in hopes of getting an even bigger deal the next year. There wasn't much interest in him due to his off field issues.

Also for all you, "Mr B. broke up the next dynasty in 1999", folks out there, the Browns gave Lomas Brown a 3yr deal making him the highest paid lineman in the NFL. As an expansion team, they had the money to overspend for a 35 year old lineman. He used the Cards as leverage w/ the Browns.

Besides there wasn't much to break up, as great as that year was and as much as I love that team, they were not good, and even with Miller, Brown and Larry they'd have missed the playoffs in 1999.

Its irrelevant why the players left. They did and it took 9 years and 3 more coaches to finally have another winning season.

Also no one has any idea if the team would have missed the playoffs in 1999. Even with the loss of those key players the Cards won 4 straight to get to 6-6. They had to finish with 3 games on the road and for some reason totally fell apart not recovering until midway thru the 2001 season going 5-23 from Dec. 12th 1999 to Nov. 18th 2001.

With that legacy and that of the abysmal 2003 team it is truly an amazing feat that the Cards are 14-4 at home the last two seasons. That Whisenhunt isn't coach of the year is a travesty.

I never thought Dansby was very good game in game out BUT the superbowl changes things. This team has the talent to get here. Keep it intact build through the draft add the occassional FA.

the very first season with the Browns he got a 4 year 18 million dollar extension. He got that money that he was looking for and made the Pro-Bowl.

True. A lot of revisionist history here as many Cards fans think Miller never did anything with Cleveland. 2001, his probowl season, he had 13 sacks and 4 Forced fumbles and 14 PDf.

Who said he never did anything in Cleveland. The point is he was all about getting the "big deal" and was willing to risk a 1yr deal for less to get that shot. Him leaving had nothing to do with the cheap Cardinals breaking up the '98 team, like everyone in this town tries to ram down your throat, it was about Jamir Miller wanting the big time money and not caring about winning.

Its been said many times over the years by many different people.

If the Cards had been committed to winning back then they would have paid Miller the big money and extended Tobin in '99 instead of letting him go into 2000 as a lame duck coach which led to the worst season in Arizona history.

Well maybe I should say if the Cards hadn't been running a poor boy operation because of their stadium situation they could have paid Miller the money.

They fell apart because Jake threw something like 10 picks in those last 4 games, while the defense gave up 400+ yards a game. They were out scored 145-62 in those games, the didnt beat a single team with a winning record in 1999, 4 of there six wins came against the 5-11 Eagles and 7-9 Giants, can I say with 100% certainty that they still would have missed the playoffs w/ Miller, Brown and Centers? No, but I sure am not going out on any limbs by saying the wouldn't. 1998 was a magical year, even though we had a -58 scoring differential, we were able to ride a last place schedule and a bunch of last second wins against bad teams to the playoffs. Then against Dallas we played almost perfectly and got the breaks, watch that game again, and came up with a win for the ages, man that game and season were enough to carry me until this year. As great as it was there wasn't anything to break up, as many will have you believe.

1999 had a really weird schedule for the Cards. 3 of 4 on the road to start the season and 3 of 4 on the road to end the season with one stretch where they played 5 of 6 games at home.
