we just don't have the speed to stop quick guys like robinson. he just got into a zone too, so it isn't too much of a surprise that he got as many points as he did. Just think, every time people play us they probably say "it's amazing how bad our front court defense is" when in reality it is just two of the best in the game tearing them up.


J rich is balling from 3. His hustle plays are very nice to see as well. once we get him clicking into the team all the way, look out

they went 12 possessions with Amare getting the ball only one time from an offensive rebound. No way should that ever happen to your best player let alone one of the best offensive big men in the game. 21/14 for Stat his 8th game with over 20 and I think his 3rd game with over 10 rebounds, Shaq with 23/12 another big game for him.

when you play running teams, the outcome is usually going to be relatively meaningless. if you beat them badly, it's probably because they missed shots and shot themselves out of the game. if you lose badly, it's probably because they just outshot you. beating them by 10 is just somewhere in the middle. we beat them in the first half, they picked it up in the second. we had an answer for what they wanted to do, they didn't have one for shaq. simple as that. not a bad win, not a terrific one either

agreed. especially when the other team is guarding him with Lee (in severe foul trouble) or Harrington. no reason for him not to see the ball, especially when you consider that he is surrounded on the perimeter by J rich, Nash, and Barnes

But at full strength, we only played eight players, and the eighth man Amundson played only 5 minutes. This is a 7-man rotation. Nash played 40 minutes again, Hill 37, Shaq 35.

The KNICKS played hard but a typical smallball result....high effort & jump shots vs smart shots and size = a tough loss.
SUNS defense was sporadic but sufficient against a one-dimensional offense.
Amundsen put in some quality minutes as did Barbosa.
Shaq, Barnes,Hill making alot of plays.
JRich is gonna really help this team score obviously. The spacing has already improved at times in the half-court.
Crunch time turnovers are starting to piss me off. Porter better get that fixed.

so what? my example was spot on. Our front court scores on every team, not just one. amare is on a streak of 8 straight 20+ point games and shaq is averaging 16 points a game, including a better free throw percentage and 35/23 point efforts in his last two games. where exactly is my example wrong?

SUNS working in JRich who nearly had 37 minutes.
Lopez was a bad matchup tonight. Barbosa will get more minutes obviously once JRich gets comfortable IMO. 19 pts from a short bench not too bad though.
Also Porter wanted this one badly & he wasn't gonna try to work in Dudley tonight....and he gave Tragic a night off in development.
We know this won't be a seven man rotation.

and way to be on the boards tonight Amare. I don't think it's a coincidence that he's been at double figures in 4 of 5 games corresponding with 4 of 5 wins. keep it going and you might just start getting those accolades you crave!

It is so nice to see Shaq and Amare going for 44points and 26 rebounds. On top of that- numbers don't show just how aggressive Amare was, and how great Shaq looks out there. Shaq looks like he is 5 year younger, and Amare was every bit as aggressive as Barnes.

Agreed. I haven't been able to watch any thing other then highlights but he looks at least as good as he did during the Miami title run.

If they can get these parts working together and find a backup PG who can play some defense they could make a run.

As has been the case many times over the year the true MVP of the team is the training staff. What they have done with Shaq so far is nothing short of remarkable.

Keep on boarding Amare. Don't lose focus.

It was frustrating how much the refs "let them" play approach hurt the Suns. At times it seems like there is open season on Nash.

Clearly the New York Knicks were a lot more physical than we might have expected and the Suns missed shots when fouled.. On the plus side, adding J-Rich helped their plan of spreading the floor by hitting 4 of 7 for three. His 7 rebounds was a big deal.

On defense, the Suns worked hard to deal with the Knicks three point shooting and it worked by holding them to 5 of 37 for three. The problem was that it left the lane open for Nate Robinson.

One odd thing is that the Knicks were so competative considering the price of the guys that don't play:

Marbury - $21 million Last year
Curry - 9.7 million + two more seasons
Rose - $7.6 million - Last Year
Jerome James - $6.2 million + another year

It is amazing how DA takes a group of bench type players and gives the Suns all they want. I'm just glad the Knicks only shot 13.5% from three point range on 37 shots or it might have been a different story.

I'm hoping the Suns are working hard on finding a veteran backup PG for Nash. IMO, he needs more rest to keep his legs fresh. The Suns offense desperately needs such a player.

The Suns basically dominated this game until Robinson became unstoppable. So it's not really that amazing.
