The third quarter in question...Spurs scored 27 to the Suns 11. I think that is kind of an offensive problem. It's not like the Spurs scored 40.

Shaq isn't the problem.

Not now, but that's also because the Suns aren't "running a bit more and hoisting them up."

The Suns did a great job transitioning to a half-court set. They didn't beat the Spurs the last two times by running more and hoisting them up. They flat out beat them.

If it ain't broke (the offense) don't fix it. If it is broke (the defense) then by all means, fix away.

uh, Ben Wallace was a HUGE contributor on a title team and a team that got to Game 7 of the NBA Finals. He just sucks now because he's old, not as athletic which makes him a bad defender and a pathetic offender.

and I'm pretty sure Bruce Bowen has been a huge contributor on the Spurs.

he was being sarcastic

11 points in a quarter is broke.

The Suns were averaging more fast breaks and running with Shaq then without him. The Suns can still run more with Shaq in the lineup. It does require Shaq to dominate from a rebounding perspective.

So D'Antoni is just saying he wants to get back to that. However, I agree that we just flat beat them out last time. We played good defense and didn't allow so many freaking layups. D'Antoni I think is the only one that doesn't get that.

Despite the 11 point offensive quarter, as Kerr stated the Suns could have weathered that storm if they had played any defense.

I think it's the "hoisting them up" line that would bug me. The Suns shoot less threes now with Shaq, and score more inside. It's working really well (better than I thought it would) but I think it eats 'Antoni's soul away. He wants to just let 'em fly from distance.

End of the day, the GM is right. Even if he's wrong.

: pinkslip:

Huh? The coach should be responsible for in game decisions, the GM should hire the personnel including the coach. If he doesn't agree with the coach, he can always fire him, but that doesn't make what either one of them said anymore valid. They are both right and wrong.

Gotcha. I agree. D'Antoni can't stand not shooting the 3's. The thing that kills me though is if the 3 isn't there, just go inside. It's like he is trying to force San Antoni into giving up a 3.

Why not force the ball inside instead? To be honest, I would rather see Shaq hoist up more shots around the bucket then to have guys forcing 3's or trying to drive down a congested lane.

i hate that we need to "loosen up" . . . that means we're uptight. that signifies our team is full of mental midgets.

if anything this is the time of year that teams are meant to "focus" and become "intense." but we need to loosen up. i guess that says it all about our team, they're mentally soft. i think they get that from the top - dantoni. his hystrionics on the sidelines likely only serve to get his team more uptight.

you know the kids that end up in therapy at age 3 or 4 b/c they're uptight and don't act like kids? what is the problem nearly 100% of the time . . . their parents. they pattern their behavior after their parents. i think the same is occurring with our team and dantoni.

The guy with the hiring and firing power is always the one that is "right" in the end, even if he is 100% incorrect in his viewpoint.

That was my point.

If you want to hear something mind boggling listen to D'Antoni's interview with Dave Burns on KTAR.com. He sounds as if he's won multiple rings. He's a joke.

Steel, Cheese. I was being sarcastic, I thought calling Ben Wallace an unstoppable offensive force was subtle enough.

We disagree about that point. That's all.

Those in power aren't necessarily right, they're just in power.

Bingo. He actually thinks that his "Euro Trash" rings are some how equal to the NBA rings. That Euro crap (especially in his day) is entirely different. They allow slugging, elbowing, and frown upon whining and crying.

Can someone please explain this to me?

How come when some people on this board were saying years ago that D'Antoni was a myopic one-trick pony whose refusal to pay any attention to defense would lead to his downfall sooner rather than later, we were accused of being naysaying haters who shouldn't possibly presume to second-guess an NBA head coach? But now that it has become so obvious that even a local columnist can figure it out, everyone's congratulating themselves on their insight?

Any explanation? Please?

e, those of us that have seen through dantoni's veil for a while will never be recognized for accurately picture. those that wear the orange-colored glasses won't relent to reality until they're absolutely blugeoned with the truth.
