And really, it's one thing to continually call out those people who might have been mistaken years ago, but it's yet another to keep patting yourselves on the back and throwing around implications that you are smarter than everyone else.

I am starting to wonder whether any team can win the title with amare OR nash. I laughed at that statement at first, not so much now.

A sign of insecurity is the need for self validation. Were the marion haters actually right, or was it something else. Now that the suns dont run, the spurs are winning easier than last year, what does that mean? I thought this team was better than last years team, maybe not. Or maybe its just the coach and the loss of KT, JR, Marion didnt matter at all.

D'Antoni has some real issues that I thought he had gotten over when he started using Shaq correctly. Apparently not. Is he stubborn? Absolutely. EVERY coach is stubborn in the NBA--that's why there's only one head coach per team. But not every coach is stubborn when it comes to the bench like D'Antoni is, and right now, that's his downfall.

But now that it has become so obvious that even a local columnist can figure it out, everyone's congratulating themselves on their insight?
Any explanation? Please?

So who is looking for a "pat on the back" exactly? Sounds like you are? Besides who cares? People have different opinions all the time. What does it matter who was right or wrong?

The purpose of the thread was really to discuss the topic at hand. Not relive the past and decide who had it right to begin with.

sheesh guys, who cares. I just think the "hater" term should be used a little less frequently. I can see both sides of the coin here - for years, people have been slammed and called names or been deemed irrational because they were "haters" and now... eh, who cares. I'd just like to see the end of the inflammatory "hater" term. Ultimately, I think it's stuff like that which makes people come back and have to show they "were right" or looking for pats on the back after being insulted for years. either way, none of us are happy.

I have seen alot worse here than the "hater" term, though it is an overused term that brings on ugly political memories. I will dispense with it and not use it anymore. Anti (Marion) is a better, more accurate term. So anti it will be. If some of the posters would complement each others insight once in a while, perhaps there wouldnt be so much blowing of ones own horn. Now the pro marion anti shaq guys will come out. OK you guys, maybe small ball wasnt the problem as the suns are having alot of trouble with going big. The spurs burned them 24-3 on fast break points last game, just a little better transition D or a little more running to get a few buckets for LB and the suns would have won.

Uh, no. The point is that we were justified in expressing our opinion. That's all. It was the Koolaiders who were insisting they were smarter than everyone else and starting flame wars against anyone with a dissenting opinion.

Is water wet? Is the sky blue? Is D'antoni Stubborn?
Yes, yes and yes.

:lmao:

But this statement is very true:

"To that extent, D’Antoni is playing to his strengths when he focuses on Phoenix’s offense."

Why fight an uphill battle? You've got a good offensive team, so utilize it as much as you can!

For all the crap that some of us have taken over the years, I think we are entitled to a "pat on the back".

Good article. If Hill is a no go, I really think Strawberry should get 5-6 min at least for defensive purposes on either Parker or Ginobili.

I think everyone has taken crap for their opinions at one point or another. We would have to start a new forum if everyone was looking for one every time their points became validated.

Bottom line is if you rip someone else, you have to be able to take it back without getting wounded. And if you dont like personal insults, dont dish 'em out. Alot of posters at ASFN are good at dishing it out, apparently less can take it than can dish it out.
