wow team can't catch a break. We've lost 3 of our better defenders since last year in Dansby, Washington and now Dockett.

And pot badger.
I still don't think he's playing in the 1st 2-3 games & even if he is, its likely he's a shell of himself in what we saw last year.

This is devastating. D-line won't be anywhere near as strong and with the losses at ILB..... Bowles is going to have to be a magic man to turn this around

We're not talking about the 2008 Dockett. IMO - Rucker, Stinson can fill in.

First off, next man up.

Secondly, your opinion is incorrect. Neither Rucker or Stinson can do what Dockett does. Neither command a double team. Neither can blow plays up with their quickness, Neither can run down players from the backside. Dockett may not be the player he was as a 4-3 3tech, but he is the leader of the defense and a force. I don't know what else to say if you can't see that.

Such a devastating situation for our defense. Worst part is, it happened in practice. Wonder if it was already damaged and something in practice put it over the edge?

I saw all of that once upon a time.

Didn't see it over the past two seasons.

This. I'm not saying the sky is falling, because physically Dockett has lost a step and a half. But he was named a team captain last season, and to me that means something. Campbell has been preparing all year to be a more vocal leader, and that time has come.

We don't have anyone who can take advantage of single team blocking on pass downs now, and our run game will suffer because we'll have 1-2 rookies in the rotation, and rookies make mistakes.

This is a tough loss because with Dansby gone, Dockett was clearly the emotional heart of the defense, and it's not clear who that heart is right now. Who does the defense look to now when they need a play on 3rd and 8?

Never been a huge DD fan but Shefter said he's only missed two games over the last ten years. That's some ironman stuff right thurrr.

Starting to think 2016 is our year now...

They should be looking at themselves.

I'd hope CC or Williams have been groomed for the leadership role over the past few years.

I guess the one bright spot is that this came mid way through preseason, so hopefully they can find a player or two as other players become available. Maybe they can luck out and find a Dansby-esque DT wanting to prove he can still play...

You didn't see all of those A gap blitzes which were enabled by doubles on Dockett and Campbell?

Like I said, if you can't see what Dockett did for this defense then I can't explain it to you, but it was significant. Hopefully Ernie Sims can help fill the veteran leadership void...

I am curious to see if the Cards move up Kareem Martin's timeline. I know they were hoping to let him learn behind Campbell for the year, and transition to the other DE spot next season. We will see.

There are always the types who people who during a crap storm say, "Hey! Look at all this free fertilizer! We're better off than ever!"

This sucks. We might still be good, but you don't have a guy like Dockett penciled in as a starter ... ug, whatever, I don't feel like it.

:(

Oh, and Ernie was gone last week, bro.

Like the lousy shape the field has been in?

These players are professionals and I doubt they are gonna sit around and mope. Guys will work hard and try to make the most of the opportunity that has opened up. That being said, to try and diminish the impact Dockett made to this defense is silly.

Yeah I remember peeps here bashing Los the 1st time he left saying he was easily replaceable. LEADERS don't grow on trees & aren't made IMO.
