Right...

11 alpha males should be looking for someone else to lead.

And I saw a lot of double teams on the NT that opened A or B gaps.

Not all of these guys are alpha males which is how guys like Richie Incognito can be leaders in a locker room when they have no business doing so. Some people just want to do their job despite having great ability. Others want to lead the charge despite not having the ability to take over when they need to. Dockett and Dansby both had the ability to motivate others while also having the ability to change the direction of the game. That is unique.

Even the biggest koolaider can't deny losing Dockett, Dandby and Washington is going to hurt.

There is hope. I really think the offense is going to be 3 to 7 points a game better this year. I also have a lot of confidence in Bowles.

That being said it sure was fun watching a defense shut down the run like we did last year. It just can't be as good.

Silver lining- what kind of salary could he possibly demand if cut next year? This injury may be the only way he retires a Card.

Obviously you've never played sports.

How many times have you ever heard Gruden, Jaws, or other commentators who played the game bring up the word "leader" about player X? Not everyone on a team is looked up too as being one. Some guys are & most aren't that guy that others look up to & rely on for those abilities. It's unique

Yet another huge loss for the D.

On a positive note, at least the drop off from 9-0 to Rucker isn't as big as the drop off from D-Wash to Foote. And I really do think that Kareem Martin is going to surprise a lot of people this year.

Still, losing 9-0 is big. You just can't lose this much talent in the front 7 and expect to recover.

I have and believe that singular leadership is overstated.

I guess the coaches who talk about it on a regular basis are nuts then lol
There isn't just 1 but there ain't 15 on a team either. It's unique to certain people

Lets just look at the Vikings game.

Vikings 1st posession.

1st down DD against 63, 85 comes out of backfield to double team.
2nd down Running play to Left side, far away from DD
3rd down 63 AND 71 double team DD which allows Campbell to get through and pressure QB

It goes on and on like that all through the 1st team reps if you want me to go on. Yeah, he is a total non factor because we dont hear his name called. Ignorance doesn't begin to describe these comments that 90 wont be missed.

this is my thought.

PP is gonna have lots of opportunities to prove he's the best this year, because we're gonna be in a lot of shootouts this year (i hope!)

Son of a bitch!!!

Thank goodness Frostee has been playing well, but this is devastating to what is the best part of the defense.

the one thing I'll say with the injuries and defections and suspensions on D so far is that Arians was able to make a whole lotta chicken salad out of chicken ish in Indy his first year. sure he had a HOF talent with Luck, but he was still a rookie and made a lot of mistakes. hopefully he can rally the troops here too.

Pat Kirwin and Jim Miller were at cards camp last week and they interviewed the Cards GM and that was a talking point. I had a feeling something like this would happen when I was listening to that segment. I don't have the time or will to look for the link.

All the rah-rah in the world can't beat talent, scheme and players doing their job.

You're right but without those leadership guys you have teams like the Detroit Lions can't can't ever win **** with all the talent in the world :D

This. I'm not saying the sky is falling, because physically Dockett has lost a step and a half. But he was named a team captain last season, and to me that means something. Campbell has been preparing all year to be a more vocal leader, and that time has come.

We don't have anyone who can take advantage of single team blocking on pass downs now, and our run game will suffer because we'll have 1-2 rookies in the rotation, and rookies make mistakes.

This is a tough loss because with Dansby gone, Dockett was clearly the emotional heart of the defense, and it's not clear who that heart is right now. Who does the defense look to now when they need a play on 3rd and 8?

How much did we just dump on PP's lap?? It's time he took command of this defense.
If not him, there is nobody else. I love CC, but I just don't see the onfield leadership qualities you need from a guy who commands that role... Dansby had it. Dock of course had it. A-Dub had it...
Now it's PP's time!

Not denying a role for leadership, Bucky, just saying that it's sometimes overstated.

Wasn't worth a wit when we were a 4,5 win team.
