Isn't the fact that he won't play for the minimum even more speculation at this point?

It has been put out there by many sources. He declined playing for the minimum and we cut him.

Why would anyone expect him to accept the minimum? He's going to get more than that elsewhere and him and his agents know it.

How's this analogy Mitch? People claim alcoholism and drug addiction is a disease(I don't but some do).

You've got an employee who has been sick for 3 years, now has recovered, and you'll take them back but only at a fraction of what he was paid prior to being sick, regardless of if his production is at the same level.

I'm not defending Washington's action at all but to blast him and expect him to play for the Cards for much less than another team is going offer him is ridiculous.

It's a 2 way street. I remember, going way back, think it was Chris Gedney, had some kind of disease/condition, and the Cards cut him because he wasn't able to help on the field any longer.

None of us know exactly what went down in that meeting. Could've been ONLY a money issue. Or, might've been a number of other factors, not least of which could be that Michael Bidwill didn't see the person he felt he needed to see, or, hear the things from that person he needed to hear.
Washington committed horrendous acts. He is simply lucky the NFL is allowing the oppty to play again. After stealing the $$ he has stolen from the Cards, he should be nothing but grateful for even a penny he might earn this season, and then do everything humanly possible to parlay that into a 3 year, multi-million dollar deal...
We'll see how it all plays out. However, my hunch is that he will not be paid anywhere close to what he might be looking for. And that he will never amount to a starting LB in the game again... I place a great deal of trust in Mike Bidwill's ability to read people. As a former Federal Prosecutor, he excelled... in large part because of this ability. The fact that he wasted no time in cutting D-Waste loose speaks volumes to me...

30 year old former pro bowl line backer.
History of drug problems.
Has not played in three years.
History of domestic violence.

Maybe take a flyer on a vet minimum deal. But if he wants three million, show him the door. It really is a simple choice, especially when line backer is not a need.

Take that 3 mil and spend it on a WR or CB.

I just don't understand how people have so much faith in this guy to get back to any impressive level of play after being gone for three years, while obviously NOT doing everything in his power to get back as soon as he could.

That depends on whats the criteria. Career stats? Meaning TDs, completions, yards, etc. Or are we talking about career success? MVPs, superbowls? etc.?

The 1st is out the window. Luck just isnt the thrower Manning was.

However if we are talking about legacy, can Luck win MVPs and superbowls, then absolutely. No question. Kid went to the playoffs at 11-5 3x in his first 5 seasons.

His only problem is hes on the Colts. He has no help. If he were a Cardinal, we'd win the superbowl this year. Not even a conversation.

Youre backing yourself into a corner with that statement because you have to remember most of the current top QBs in the NFL were drafted only a couple years after Peyton. Meaning Peyton hadnt established his name yet. And so nobody was saying "This guy is going to be the next Peyton Manning" in regards to Big Ben, Tom Brady and Aaron.

The "next Peyton Manning" comps only started up maybe 8 years ago. So your candidates are QBs drafted after 2008.

Russ Wilson and Andrew Luck are the only elite young QBs who fit that criteria.

Carr isnt there yet, but he has potential.

Exactly. Peyton Manning wasn't Peyton Manning the first five years of his career. There were flashes, sure, but there was legit debate if he could ever cut down on the INTs.
