You can figure out how vocal a player is by being a fan of the team. We know how vocal Fitz is; we knew how vocal Kurt Warner was. None of us play for or are staffed by the Cards organization.
To a point, i agree. For all we know Levi Brown is the leader of the OL and I've hardly ever heard him speak. Trying to judge another teams leaders, like the Texans, is about impossible.

For what it's worth, there was a Texans player on NFL Radio a couple weeks ago and he was going on and on about what a great teammate and leader Andre Johnson was. A guy who--like Larry--leads by example and helps the guys in his unit.

I'm not sure there's anything unusual about the senior member of a unit taking a rook aside and giving him some input. It should be expected. This is not the same as Anquan Boldin getting in some OT's face about missing blocks or something. The next time that happens with Larry would be the first that I've heard.

Just because a guy isn't always chirping to the media

Unless your complaining about your contract with 5 years left to go on your current deal, and your owner is willing to do it setting a hugely horrible precedent not for just your team but for the rest of the league, and throwing our own soon to be Fitz negotiations into a much higher money bracket then it would have been otherwise.

End of Rant.

End of Rant.

Johnson was signed to a six-year, $60 million extension with $15 million in guaranteed money (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2786880) that gave the Texans cap room at the beginning of free agency (imagine that).

Fitz signed a four year, $40 million contract (not extension) that included $30 million in guarantees (http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/articles/0311fitzfolo.html). Fitz was going to become the highest-paid WR in football, anyway. If anything, the extension on Andre Johnson (or they'll just give him huge raises for the life of the deal) will set terms for Fitz's contract.

Of course, Graves could be pro-active and get Fitz signed before Andre Johnson's done...

...But I think whatever way you want to slice it, Fitz is going to get upwards of $12 million per season on his next deal. Maybe $15 million per season (depending on what the Cards are looking to pay out to Matt), with maybe $35 million in guaranteed money.

I have been coming to camp for roughly 13 years now. I must say that this was by far the most spirited practice I have ever witnessed. The players were loud, boisterous and completely intune to what was going on at all times. There were 2 really good fights which I will get into a bit later.

...I know that fights happen in training camp all the time. But today was just different. I cant explain it unless you were there. But jw7 felt it too and commented on it. This whole team was lively and spry the entire practice. they were really getting after it. They were vocal and seemed to really be enjoying i t At times when your up there you will have an occasional brawl. sometimes you get the feeling that the players have that "can we just get this over with" air about them. Not today. There was some electricity in the air IMO.
I am getting the sense that this year's team is even "hungrier" than they were a couple of years ago!

They started doing 7 on 7 and Matt's very first pass was to Doucett who was open on a crossing pattern. He threw it behind him and Kerry Rhodes charged in after it dropping a sure INT. Matt then threw a sidline pass that landed at the feet of Breaston. He was also open and the throw was uncatchable. He finished teh entire drill 3 for 6. His third incompletion was a throw into the ground right at the feet of Hightower. However on one of the completions he threw a perfect strike to Gant down the left sideline for a 50 yard TD. It was a beautiful play. For whatever reason though Matt was just not sharp today. He missed Gant for another 50 yard bomb that he was wide open on a little later in practice.
I guess that's better than missing them high... :|

Dude get over it. You are in love with his speed and size and hands. We get it.

He is not, will not, nor will ever be Larry Fitzgerald as a leader, person, or teammate.

You are really searching for this stuff and its just belaboring your point.

Your in love with his measurables. We like Fitzs intangibles. Production is nearly a wash. End of story.

Go make this argument somewhere else now sheesh.

Get over yourself, AZF. I didn't bring up the Fitz/Johnson comparison in this thread. I saw what the conversation was, and I put in some information that I'd encountered.

I could just as easily say that I'm in love with production (216 receptions, 3144 yards, 17 TDs the last two years for AJ, 193 receptions, 2523 yards, 25 TDs for Fitz) and you're in love with the player on your team.

can I just say that I LOVE Ken Whisenhunt?

I mean, I think this team has GAPING holes at key positions (ILB/CB and maybe QB) but I STILL believe we have a shot at our third straight division title simply because we have a Head Coach I completely believe in (along with some superstar talent at other positions). I mean, I just typed "we have a shot at our THIRD STRAIGHT DIVISION TITLE"... that's awesome.

I like hearing about the fights... I like hearing that Levi Brown stood up for Matt... most of all, I like looking forward to football season not just because it's football season but because the Cardinals have a shot to win their division again.

All hail Ken Whisenhunt.

That's all.

All hail Ken Whisenhunt.

Unequivical truth.

I would say I have never been able to follow a coach as sound and as smart as him in any of the sports, at any of the levels, that I have cheered for since I was a kid.

In Wiz I Trust is so cliche at this point, but damn if it isn't true.

To your point Cheese, one of the things I am most excited to watch play out (other then Matt of course) is just HOW good is Wiz? I mean think about this for a second. He has not had a losing record since he has started coaching here. 90% of coaches can't say that with the PREMIERE franchises and he's doing it with the Arizona freaking Cardinals?

That shouldn't go unnoticed. Can he do it again with a inferior QB? Can he maybe even out-do what he did with Warner? Whats the ceiling on this guy Year 4 into the program?

Is it more likely that we finish 12-4 then 5 -11 (barring injuries)? I actually think it is and THAT'S how much faith I have in the guy. He'll have to achieve only 6 wins before I think its possible with any roster - and this one has some definite studs on it - that he can't win more then that over a 16 game season.

He's not God. but he's the best thing to ever happen to this franchise. That's inarguable.

yeah, I don't have THAT much faith in him... actually, it's more that I don't have that much faith in the QB, ILB and CB position. I don't think there's anyway, as great as Wiz is, to get this team to 12 wins, but I could see those three positions just killing us and saddling us with 6 wins (although, I'd agree, no way 5-11 happens, unless there are major injuries).

I'd be our over under right around Vegas' at 7.5.

I'm just excited because we get to see what he does without Warner. I remember we started 2-2 before Matt went down back in the day and we were running the ball A LOT. I'm looking forward to more of the same and ultimately find out if Matt's the future or not.

Bottom line, in this division, with the talent we have, I expect Wiz to have us in it all season, if not win it and that's all I can ask for after the turnover we had this season.

Well said cheese & my thoughts exactly, though I have more worries with this team defensively than in #7.

Unless we have just a multitude of injuries (it's always possible), there's no way we see 6-10. Too many of these guys have come to camp in the best shape of their lives & with a huge chip on their shoulders. DD looks almost unstoppable. Fitz has lost some weight & has said on the record that this will be his BEST year yet. Calais is ready for a monster year. Beanie is looking phenomenal. Rhodes will be a significan upgrade over Rolle. The sky is the limit for DRC. Doucet will have a breakout year. The OL will be the best the Cardinals have had since the 70's. The list is endless. John Lott has to be commended for the job he does, but again, that goes back to Whisenhunt. ILB seems to be an issue, but I really think the Cardinals put a greater emphasis on the DL than the backers. There are questions surrounding our secondary & it's obvious they were exposed in the playoffs last year. Is there anyone in our division capable of doing what Rogers & Brees did to us. The answer is no. There's also no doubt in my mind that the Cardinals will bring in a veteran LBer & CB before the season starts. Bottom line, having Whiz on our sideline will add a couple of wins & I see at least 10 wins this year.

Agree on Rhodes. A true FS, who won't make the ESPN highlights 2, 3 times a year, but the type of centre fielder that frees up Wilson.

The 70's O-line gave up the fewest sacks over their tenure. I doubt this line can be as good, but perhaps the best we've had in AZ.

Can't guarantee they'll find an additional vet LB and Corner, but they'll certainly try.
