The Diamondbacks will place starting catcher Gabriel Moreno on the injured list with a left groin strain, per Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro.

Gabriel Moreno will not need surgery for his left adductor strain, manager Torey Lovullo said, although it was discussed.

Lovullo said again that he feels "very positively" that Moreno will be back before the end of the season.

Ketel Marte had his MRI at 2:15, so Torey Lovullo did not have results to share in his pregame presser.

Based on his conversations with the medical staff, he said that there is "very minimal" concern that Marte will require an IL stint.

Lovullo said that while Marte aggravated the ankle, the early report from the medical team was that there was no new injury to it. More will be known after tests on it

The medical staff tells the manager what they think but it’s the manager’s job to save a player from himself when he undersells or lies about his condition because he wants to play.

Ketel Marte is not going to undergo any new imaging

manager Torey Lovullo said. Team thinks he just needs more rest and are confident that it's just a low-grade ankle sprain. He is back in Arizona working with team's rehab staff.
