Greinke.... WOW.... Incredibly embarrassing. And leaves to a chorus of boos and heckles... If he doesn't remember this night and take it into the offseason as motivation, and then come back in '17 and resemble the pitcher he was in '15, I'm gonna have serious issues with him and begin to question his heart and guts...
First, I tried to give Greinke the benefit of the doubt -- he was facing a Dodgers team who knows everything about him, especially their Catchers who could pass it on to the rest of the team, better than any Coach could.
Then I found myself thinking that Greinke wanted to be #1 at all costs, having turned down both the Dodgers and Giants where he would have been # 1A.
Then I considered that he has a reputation of being a perfectionist. And that he realized he is now the ace of a pitching staff , the rest of which has no skills above AAA -- starting or relieving -- and no one to protect Goldy in the lineup, just a bunch of .270 hot-and-cold hitters.
And an inexperienced Grand Wazool of Baseball Operations and an inexperienced General Manager both of whom have proven the Peter Principle , "In a heriarcy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence".
I bet he wishes he were back with the Dodgers or with the Giants now. And with his obsessive personality, that can eat away at a person. And affect his performance. Especially since the D-backs have made it clear that they are not trading him.
