5-0 Dbacks after the 1st! Gonzo homered, knocking in Byrnes. Then Drew tripled, knocking in Hudson and S Green. What a great start which we needed with Cruz on the mound. Lets get the double header sweep! Come on Cruz, a 5 run pad should be enough

6-0 on another Gonzo RBI! If anyones watchin you gotta check out how dirty Byrnes is already (2nd inning). His jersey (top and pants) are completely smeared with mud/dirt, he has mud all over his neck, and his eye black is smeared all over his face. He's old school, I love it! BTW, it's raining again in Chi so lets hope this game gets at least 5 considering we're killing them early. Does it rain everyday everywhere else besides AZ?

Grandpa Gonzo looked horrible on that short fly ball. Not only did he not get to it in time, but he hesitated to throw to third where (if he had a good arm) he might have gotten an out.

Thats expected out of him. However, he's 2-4 today with a homer and 3 RBI's so he's made up for his defense today

This has been an excellent game for the D'backs today! Juan Cruz I think surprised everyone today by pitching great. It's only the 7th inning, but if our bullpen can keep this lead until the 9th, then turn it over to Pena and take game 1 easily.

Hopefully we can keep it going for game 2!

I think Drew has arrived. I think he would have even better numbers in the 2 hole since there would be a proven hitter behind him and they would have to pitch to him.

Stephen Drew with a solo shot to make it 10-1 in the 9th.

Aquino doing a miserable job here in the bottom of the ninth. One run in already (after a walk!) and runners on second and third with one out. Good thing he has a large cushion. Just walked the bases loaded with one out. 10-2 currently.

... and he gets out of it with the double play. Good win. I imagine that Quentin will play the second half of this double-header.

Nah, I wasn't too surprised. Just remember what he did before the injury and after a solid start his last outing I expected him to do well. Great win, we're tied for the division and wild card now!

When is game 2?

Great game for the Baby Backs on my fantasy team, as well (Drew, Quentin and CoJack) - 4/8, 4 runs scored, 1 HR, 4 RBI's!!

Juan deserved a great, solid start like that. It's good too see him get back to pitching like he did before the injury and break.

Game 2 is on is a couple of minutes, FSN Arizona is doing a pregame matchup of the pitchers. The Cubs' new pitcher had a really good ERA down in the Minors, so I'm not going to write the Cubs off completly in game 2.

Lets hope Enrique has a great start as well, it would be great too have the D'backs come home as NL West leaders.

I hope I am wrong but I have a bad feeling the D'Backs are going to lose the 2nd game. The wind is blowing in and they are already losing 3-0 in the first.

Well I don't think it was a terrible start, but it could have been a lot better.

I have to agree with Zona, in this series it has been whichever team falls behind, looses. But I'll still hope for a comeback like the Houston series.

Well, the Dbacks are still hanging in it, but down 4-2 in the 4th.

7 hits and 2 walks through 4 innings is unacceptable. Gonazalez needs to have couple good innings coming up and give Drew and Quentin a chance to tie it up!

Enrique really needs to pull himself together, allowing 6 runs in 4+ innings to the Cubs JV team is awful.

We have absolutely zero consistency from our 2-5 starters. It makes me sick. I made the mistake after four starts from Enrique by saying he was consistent, what an error in judgement

Since when is only pitching five innings a good start? Cruz would have been lit up today by any major league team not named the Cubs or Royals, he was very luck to escape as he did.

Kind of like exchanging a crap sandwich for a vomit burger.

Is it just me or did Brenly absolutely ruin all the relievers he had while here. He drove Villareal into the ground by pitching him every night which was a shame, he had a bright future. Koplove used to be good but he's been garbage ever since too.
