I would rather see Owings or Nippert than Koplove.

I'm about done with Nippert. I hope I'm wrong but he hasn't shown me anything but talent and average trade value. Talent doesn't get you far especially when everytime you come up you get rocked

Well....I don't know what too say about game 2, Enrique had one of his "terrible days" but at least we didn't let the Cubs blow us out again, or at least they didn't blow us out too bad, depending on how you look at it.

A loss is a loss, and while I'd have loved to be tied for the NL west, we're still only a few wins away from it.

Youve determined that in the one start he made this year?

He was up last year and wasn't impressive. He was up this year and looked like uss Ortiz. I've seen 3 of his minor league starts on TV this year and he got shelled in all of them. Just because he's our "#1 pitching prospect" doesn't mean he's worthy of a shot again anytime soon. I'm not impressed, is that ok?

I don't know why you would let an average-at-best starter hit with the bases loaded when you're already losing. Sure enough, he hits into a double play, then goes out and gives up a couple more runs before getting yanked.

Oh well, a .500 road trip is a win. Time to make some noise at home.

Talk about a small sample size. Im not advocating that Nippert should be called up at the moment, but to state that you are "about done with Nippert" based off of four major league starts over two years is silly and short sighted, especially considering his talent and the fact that he just started in AAA this season.

Well then call me short sighted, thats fine. I'm simply saying that just because he's our suppossed best pitching prospect he shouldn't get the first shot. No one talked about Enrique and he's done decent so far at the big league level. The starts I've seen him make have been unimpressive in more ways than one. He could be dominant and then he lets a couple hits get to him and he falls completely off the tracks, he walks too many batters, he gives up more runs than he should... Just my observations. Last I checked, his ERA is over 5 in Tucson and I don't think his WHIP is good either At Colorado Springs this season, he had a 2 hitter through 4 and then gave up a couple hits in the fifth, got flustered, and gave up 6 runs.... Are all these signs that he won't be good some day for us? No, but he's far from MLB ready IMO

Mike Koplove called up from AAA Tucson, Andy Green sent down.
As it turns out, Andy Green was sent to the DL and not to Tucson.

...I just recently became a D'backs fan the start of this season. I take it that Nippert guy pitching is a bad idea?

He's been tagged by many as being our best pitching prospect. He has all the physical tools to be a great pitcher for us in the future. However, in the few times he's got a shot with the big team he has struggeld. This year he has struggled at the AAA level as well which has been most dissapointing. I'm sure he will be fine but at this moment he doesn't look ready to contribute at the ML level. This is just my opinion..... I just wish we had some pitching prospects but thats the way it goes. Hopefully Owings can continue to develop so we can see him soon
