I have tempered expectations too not so much because of Snyder but because it just seems like a jumbled mess from all the plot details that leak out...if they can make the ton of character intros work within a coherent story I will be pleasantly surprised.

I have not seen a consistent story or arc from Snyder yet (Man of Steel was such a mixed bag). I am not confident in his ability to put together a coherent DC verse which is even a bigger task.

I still don't get the concept of putting 2 super heros against each other. I get this may have already happened in a comic book years ago, but I just don't like the idea Also, this is going to be Ben's first go as Batman, why would they throw him into this and not give him a batman movie of his own first, then move to this. Just not feeling this one yet with the limited amount of trailer time.

Official Plot Synopsis: Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

...and let me guess...... toward the end, they have to forget or put on hold their battle and join hands in whooping this new menace.

I don't know if that's true, but that is usually the plot line.

of course it is... which is my biggest problem with the construction of this movie. We're going to have 2/3s of a movie that's all schmuck bait because we know from the beginning that both Bats and Supes are good guys, which puts the audience WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ahead of the main characters, which I fear will be completely annoying to watch until they figure it out for themselves.

the only way they can avoid this is if Supes somehow goes Bizzaro Supes for some reason and Batman actually HAS to beat him down and turn him back into Superman. Otherwise, it's all just mental masturbation until they come together to defeat the real evil in the movie.

Yeah, yet another reason this movie's looking awful.

I am really hoping this movie works. I think most fans know the Superman vs. Batman storyline even IF they don't read the comics. It's going to be very predictable but that doesn't mean it's going to be bad. I actually have a little more faith in this than Wonder Woman, Justice League or Shazam. Suicide Squad? I am just not sure.

Two words make me very nervous for the DC verse....Zack Snyder.

sadly, I agree. which is too bad because I thought Snyder knocked it out of the park with his first two movies Dawn Of The Dead and 300. But it's been downhill since then, save for some pretty awesome moments in The Watchmen.

Man Of Steel I actually liked for the first hour but the second hour was just mind-numbing destruction.

I pretty much agree with everything you just said. Man of Steel started out pretty good then the fighting started, I like fight scenes and action but that was just way overboard. I hope they tone it down this time and make the fights more personal and less WMD.

Actually I think in some ways The Watchmen and Man of Steel were mirrors of the same issues. There were some really good parts of both movies that strives on great. Then both movies had parts that were straight up ridiculous.

It's almost as if he gets bored or has a Jekyll and Hyde moments when making these two films. Doesn't even feel like the same guy at times. So inconsistent.

new trailer just debuted at comic con... liked it MUCH MORE then the Teaser. Only thing REALLY rubbing me the wrong way is Eisenberg as Luthor. Just doesn't feel right.

My guess is in the current iteration of the movies that, short of introducing Kryptonite, Bruce Wayne would discern (maybe with the help of Lex Luthor?) a weakness from an autopsy of Zod's corpse.

As for why they would fight, I would envision Bruce Wayne and/or Lex Luthor having a "9-11 moment" call-to-action while watching the destruction of Metropolis on CNN, and blaming it on Superman...or something along those lines.

It's still early, but after seeing the latest trailer it would seem I was pretty darn close.

That looks waaaay better than the teaser. And it appears as though its Batman who loses his **** and not Superman, which is the opposite take than I would have expected.

However, I feel like Lex Luthor is, above everything else, a charismatic con man; as ridiculous as the 80s superman movies were Gene Hackman was brilliant. I don't see how Eisenburg's portrayal of him as this pre-pubescent voiced, weirdo is going to work. Who gets suckered in by that guy? How does he amass a fortune? Any sane person would be repulsed as soon as he speaks.

I don't know, I remember him as Zuckerberg and I can see Snyder telling him to make Luther like him. Antisocial, brilliant.

Yeah, I get antisocial, brilliant, but I don't think thats Lex Luthor. Like I said before, I always thought of that character as first and foremost, a conman. A really evil conman with a lust for power, but a conman.

Notice I didn't say "like the comics". Snyder just seems to be going a certain direction, for good or bad.

I really wish the role had gone to Bryan Cranston, but I'm willing to give Eisenberg a chance.

That trailer looked really good. It may not be the cluttered mess I feared it would be.
