I had heard that the after credits scene in the first Avengers was a pre-emptive strike at DC since Darkseid and Thanos are so similar, they wanted to make it look like DC stole the idea to the outside-the-comic-fan

Throw in Apocalypse (the mutant, not to be confused with Apokalips the Planet of Darkseid), and you really have the opportunity to ask who copied who?

Yeah I forgot about Apocalypse...of course IMO the movie version is somewhat disappointing from what we have seen so far.

Darkseid came before Thanos not to mention that Thanos' creator outright admitted that he got the idea for Thanos from Darkseid.

Yep, and most comic fans know that but a lot of the Avengers movie goers aren't comic book readers. That was the the rumored reason of the post credit scene with Thanos, so that Marvel would seem like the original.

Loved Kevin Smith's comment on the movie. He said something like, "Snyder doesn't feel like a guy who grew up reading comic books. He's more like a guy who read one graphic novel, one time, and that was The Dark Knight Returns."

Ouch.

I can't agree, because that's not how the movie started. That would have been an excellent beginning, yes, but...ugh, what an awful opening.

I have to say, it definitely met my expectations.

I agree. I forgot/blocked out the 15minutes of batman backstory, AGAIN.

Seriously people, you can stop telling us the Batman origin story. We get it. His parents got killed, he's pissed off and decides to fight crime... Moving on!

I feel like all the tools were there for this movie but as usual, Snyder being Snyder. Hang on, I'm going to make a 30 minute slow motion sequence to explain this completely meaningless plot device that I'll never come back to!

Yeah, plus he's seen the movie Murderball. Actually, he's only read the title--the first half of the title.

this article is pretty much spot-on with my opinion... funny read too.

Damn, this article was so funny and so spot-on that I had to read the whole thing.

If this movie completely tanks they would have to fire Snyder. Also, studio chief Kevin Tsujihara is also in the hot seat. I don't see how they could continue their investment into this "universe" with him driving the direction. He basically will have tanked two main franchises (Superman & Batman) and stopped a 3rd (Wonder Woman), 4th (Aquaman) and 5th (Flash) before they ever take off. That doesn't even include the two Justice League films.
It appears the fans agree https://www.change.org/p/warner-bros-boot-zack-snyder-off-of-justice-league

Oh I have to disagree and this is coming from someone who is much bigger Star Wars fan then DC. That line is downright embarrassing for die hard fans, casual fans and non-fans. I actually had not thought twice about "Save Martha" until it was brought up. That "Noooooo" by Vader is singed in my brain.

That was a funny damn read and he did nail some of the issues with the movie. I have to share.

this just recorded the biggest Friday to Friday drop in comic book box office history... down 81% from last week.

Suicide Squad is undergoing reshoots in an effort to inject some levity to it. This apparently was triggered by the brutal reaction to Batman v Superman.

How was that movie lacking humor in the first place? You'd think any film based entirely around bad guys having to work together would be half comedy. DC is fumbling in the dark right now. Gotta figure Suicide Squad is now going to be really uneven and oddly paced if they're putting in newly written additional scenes this late in the process.

That is kinda what I expected, it was going to be successful opening weekend but not going to get the repeat viewings to sustain the success. That is what drove Star Wars numbers, people saw it 3-4 times in the theater.

yeah... it probably tops out around 360 million... which would be a GREAT number for most movies... but WB was hoping for Avengers level dominance... at least Avengers 2 level dominance. At this point, it's questionable if Batman v. Superman even top Deadpool. That's not a good sign for the rest of the WB slate.

I bet anything they are desperately scrambling to put in adult humor to make it more like Deadpool.

I guarantee you we will see some oddly placed profanity and scatological terms that feel like they were thrown in at the last minute, because it was.

They swung hard and missed trying to make BvS an epic drama. So now they are going to swing hard and miss trying to make Suicide squad funny like deadpool, which it should have been from the beginning, which kindof shows how out of touch this studio is.

I agree.

That was my first reaction when we left the theater. I said; Well thank god his Mom's name was Martha too! lol Cuz then Batman would have killed him and they'd have been all out of Kryptonite. lol

Did anyone find the Wonder Woman music heavy handed and beyond cheesy?

If it seems like my opinion of this is getting lower it's because I saw it again last night.

I give up on this world making a GREAT Superman movie. I will just stick to the Anime versions because they are the only ones who can get him right. Maybe he's just better suited to 2 dimensions.

I've heard rumors it's delayed until 2017 for estimates of up to 10 million in re-shoots, so they can make it more lighthearted. Here's a quick article I found on Den of Geek:

http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/sui...ad-new-reshoots-said-to-be-adding-more-humour

No way they move off that August release date. They're just going to release a kind of abortion of a movie. The Advertising costs alone of having to pimp this AGAIN for another year will make sure that movie never makes it into the black.
