Just heard that Jason Mamoa will be playing Aqua Man in this movie................really??

I was never a huge fan of the Hulk movies (although the 2nd one was better) but when I first heard he would be part of the Avengers I was expecting that part not to work. Whedon pulled it off.

I feel the same way about Aqua Man. Not that I have the same faith in Zach Snyder that I do in Whedon but that they better make him damn cool. That character has so much baggage going into the film that if they don't nail it Hulk Style, the movie ends up a mess, it will be one of the main reasons that is called out in retrospect.

I just have a hard time believing Mamoa won't come off as campy in this movie. What happened to Batman vs. Superman? This has turned into a mini-Justice League film.

Good lord... Aquaman? So, they're going to be introducing Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luther, and new Batman into this universe all in one movie? Its safe to say this thing is going to easily exceed a 3 hour running time.

I'm having a difficult time not seeing this as a train wreck in the making.

Word is it's going to be a cameo and not a major role. I don't see the problem if that is the case.

Bingo. But if, as Chap said, it's just a cameo, the Aqua Man addition won't hurt this movie. I think it has plenty of other pitfalls to worry about without another one.

I am starting to agree, but that makes me want to see it more. I feel it could be the ultimate train wreck for some reason.

I think it could be a train wreck aside from the stellar Wonder Woman casting.

It's called Dawn of Justice for a reason. You realize that right? Where was Hawk prior to Avengers?

DC is behind in the movie world, so they're cramming more in.

Almost posted that, but too many things are wrong about it. Can't be true.

Considering that it would be a "bombshell" level revelation, at least in terms of the JLA movie franchise, I felt it needed to be shared...while being certain to label it as a rumor.

Yeah. I just Googled it and found too many obvious reasons to dismiss it. No problem with putting it out there as these things do go viral.

Here is one of the best breakdowns I found:

No, ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ is not being split into two parts

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Will Not Be Split Into Two Movies, Says Henry Cavill

http://comicbook.com/2015/01/11/batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice-will-not-be-split-into-two-mov/

During an appearance at a BAFTA Tea party earlier today, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice star Henry Cavill told Variety's New York Film Editor that the film will not be split into two films and released in consecutive years, as rumors flying around this weekend had contended.

That's too bad. DC movie properties are in the news for all the wrong reasons. At this point, does anyone think this or any other DC property will be any good?

I would really like this to succeed, but I'm still thinking that it is going to end up being a high speed train wreck. DC heroes so far have taken themselves way too seriously. One of the reasons Marvel has done so well is that they keep just the right mix of drama, action, character development and humor in (most of) their movies. DC would do well to imitate that (but so far they haven't).

The problem is - that is exactly the difference between Marvel and DC comics, IMHO. DC is darker and takes itself much more serious in most titles. Marvel has a better mix like you explained.

I think it's more than that. DC didn't have a coherent plan together until after Marvel did. Since that time DC has been scrambling trying to replicate that idea. Lining up properties, actors and having a coherent universe feels more like patch work in the DC space. Inconsistent handling of the properties between TV and film isn't helping. Everything in the DC Verse seems chaotic right now.

DC also has extenuating circumstances. They were perfectly fine riding the Batman wave for awhile, even going so far as shrugging their shoulders at the mess Superman has become (and don't get me started on their fringe characters like Green Lantern). They were also perfectly fine with owning the superhero arm of television, since Smallville was pretty successful, even on a network like CW.

But now, Marvel has really jumped ahead in movies and arguably in television (although I think The Flash is the best superhero show on TV and I like Gotham). Especially in movies--and that is where the BIG money comes from. DC is scrambling and their execs don't know how to handle it.

Kind of what I thought they would do. It's so easy to make this character uber campy. It could still end up that way but it's a good start IMO.

I'm personally tired of the bland-ass palette they're using. First it was Wonder Woman looking like she's in brown leather, and now Aquaman sans orange and green?

These are based on comics for kripes sake...they should act like it!

I disagree. Some of the comic designs are simply bad on the big screen. It looks great when your looking at a colorful comic but honestly....more times than not they nail it when making changes for movies.

Also, there might be more color with Aquaman. That appears to be a colorized black and white photo which might be on purpose. I guess we shall see.

Batman V Superman Trailer Event Will Be in IMAX Theaters

http://collider.com/batman-v-superman-trailer-imax-event/

A serious clash of superheroes heroes is coming to the big, big screen. Last night, word broke that the first five seconds of the Batman v Superman trailer will be unveiled tomorrow morning ahead of an announcement for a theatrical trailer debut event on Monday, April 20th in select theaters. Now we have a bit more info Monday’s trailer event: namely that it will take place in IMAX theaters.

A pre-sale page for the “Batman v Superman IMAX Trailer Event” has popped up over on the website for the Celebration Cinema theater in Grand Rapids, MI, seemingly revealing that the event will be held in IMAX theaters. The runtime for the event also says “15 minutes,” though it’s possible that’s just a placeholder for the time-being. We’re hearing that the trailer event will only be held in about 100 theaters or so across the country, so this will be a fairly limited event. That also probably means the trailer be debuting online sometime on Monday as well.

Per yesterday’s report, once Zack Snyder unveils the first few seconds of the trailer on Twitter tomorrow, he’ll also be providing instructions on how to sign up to attend the trailer event—which looks like to be an IMAX trailer event. We’ll have all the details here on Collider once they’re up.
