I have to say he gets some pressure on the ball and collapses the pocket. I love his enthusiasm. Why break bank when this guy could probably get us 10 sacks a year

Maybe, but were the Cardinals. No time to penny pinch, just bring in as much help as we can afford IMO. We have lost long enough.

Don't jinx him. I remember reading the same thing about Calvin Pace  . The difference is Smith's play actually warrants that kind of optimism. BTW, did anyone notice the announce on yesterday's game say Pace was a LB playing DE? I know he's an obscure player but at least try and know what you're talking before you say it.

Even if Smith is a border-line starter, we need another DE. Both Chike and Berry and nearing the end.

I think Smith is a good third DE, but I think that you're placing your eggs in a flimsy basket if you depend on him to succeed in a full 16 games schedule. It would be prudent for the Cards to invest an first-day pick in a situational pass rusher that can take some of the load off Berry and Okeafor.

Speaking of defensive ends can someone give me some feedback on Quentin Moses the Georgia defensive end. Why is his stock dropping? At one time he was a projected top ten pick.

I like Smith, but I like Okeafor better. He plays hard on every play. Not great talent, but a great motor. JMO.

Anyone notice how Oke's play has accelerated since BB went down? I just don't think he is meant to be a LDE. He whipped Walter Jones pretty bad yesterday.

I love ASmiths play but I wonder if he would wear down if full time.

Complete disaster of a senior season.

First he has always had the dreaded "lack of Heart" tag on him even before the season but his physical skills still put him in the 1st round of the preseason drafts. So to begin with his stock was volatile.

then he goes out and proves everyones concerns to be correct by busting out a lackluster 3.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss, 0 FF, 0 FR, 31 Tackles on the season. Even though he started every game and only missed one.

Smith was better last year. He's slower and less aggressive this year.

I think his play this year is closely paralleling last year's. He didn't really start to pick it up last year until he had two or three starts under his belt. If he plays as well as he did yesterday the last three games, I'll be very pleased.

But, I think his upside is limited. He could be a "good" starter, but I don't think he has the burst, or knack, to be a top sack artist.

I'll take "good" any day of the week considering for many years we've had "bad" to "unemployable"

I love having the guy as a 3rd DE. He's perfect for that role. He can start at either spot if need be.

I have to agree with AJ. As good as Smith has played I don't think that he has played his way into a starting spot. He is a great swing guy and deserves a spot in our defensive line rotation but I see him more as a Chris Cooper sort of player. If we can get a top DE in the draft our defensive line will be awesome. A rotation of Berry, Okeafer, Smith and 1st round DE to complement Dockett, Watson, Cooper and Clancy would be ideal.

Antonio has talent. He plays hard and is a very good back up on any team. Great rotation guy. I love his enthusiasm. He certainly has played well since BB went down.
