I'm very sorry to hear about how unhappy you are. I tsaddens me that you will not be a Cardinal anymore. Your words have cut to the core. We get it.
There are a few things that I don't quite understand. I do understand your disappointment because you weren't able to ink an extension last year. I just have to wonder how you can stand there and say how badly this team treated you.
This is the same team that extended your contract with an extra 10 million dollars a few years back. It is the contract you signed and I would guess was very happy with it. How is that being treated so terribly? You do understand that a team cannot just redo contracts every year. You had your turn and you took it. Oh wait, you said it's not about money. How can I say this nicely? I can't so I'll just say it....BULL$hit.

Aside from money, do you not take into consideration the beautiful city, facility, stadium and team you are a part of? Did you already forget the tormenting years of losing? Do you realize that the Cards will end up doing whats best for them since you no longer want to play here. That may mean being traded to Detroit. I'm sure they will treat you better. Do you realize there are 53 other guys on this team? Do you realize there are 17 players on the current rosters who's contract is about to expire? Do you realize there may be a few things that need to be dealt with before your turn comes back around?

It's sad because I loved you man. But you are not bigger than the Bird on your helmet. I wish you luck, but you are going to find out the grass is not going to be greener anywhere else. My 81 jersey will hang in the closet next to Davis and Plummer. It's clear what you want, I only hope you can find it.

Sincerely,
slanidrac16

Q,

I dont blame you a bit for looking to get as much money for you and yours as you can. You have been my favorite football player in the world since I read a story on you in Sports Illustrated while you were at FSU. I dont know all the details so it would be wrong for me to try and judge you, so good luck in all your future endeavors (except when playing the Cards). Thank You for all you have brought to this team and it's fans.

Agreed. It's so uncharacteristic that i just dont know how to feel. Someone is faking their -$$ off, I just cant figure out if it's him, Rosendouche or RG.

Trust me cardsfanmd, I have no problems with players wanting to get as much as they can. But he talks like the Cards have mistreated him since the day he was drafted. There are ways to go about things and then there is the right way to go about it. He'd get a lot more sympathy and fan support if he would just use his effing head.

The bottom line is the PLAYERS KNOW it's a business. They want to take priority. When they don't have it , OR CAN'T HAVE IT because of the teams cap situation or it's competitive advantage, you have tantrums like this.

True Graves shouldn't have promised him the world when the f/o tore up his rookie contract and gave him a nice fat bonus check for 10M or so. The bonus should have been enough to keep him content. If it wasn't NEITHER SIDE should have proceeded! Either your happy with the deal and sign it or the org. isn't and doesn't offer the deal. It's pretty simple. Now if understandings were breached, well that's business. The Cardinals feel they have made the offers that they were able to make with considerations to the competitive standpoint of the organization. Anquan should understand that, because that's sound business and the team WAS COMPETITIVE. That's the bottom line. It should have been a pleasure after all those also-ran years to be a part of this year. But that's not coming out at all.:(

Interesting, because there is a real sense of mourning even borderline denial. "This isn't the Q I love." Really?

You have to wonder if the pandering to fans about winning was really a facade all along at this point, unlikely IMO, but definitely chick like jealousy rules in Q's world. But I understand, people chose sides put emotions into Q and we can't pretend like we all loved Fitz, must suck when your guy your hero becomes a class A villain, like when a child learns Santa Claus isn't real.

Or maybe its just that we believe and want whats best for the Cards.. It has nothing to do with Fitz for true fans.. Im not pitting one against the other.. First and foremost is The Cards.. And thats where I stand..

For what its worth its Mr. Boldins choice. Money or success on the field. IMHO MR Boldin has 2 or 3 years left at his intensity level. If he moves on it will take a year to adjust and another to make a run. Provided he is traded to a contender. He could end up in Cincy, Detroit, St Louis, or Cleveland and never have a chance to compete for the title again.
My 2 cents from someone on their third set of tires on the old chassis, Memories TRUMP money.

He doesnt talk like that at all. He states exactly how he feels and exactly when he felt lied to. He doesnt say it in the context as it has ALWAYS been that way.

He did say it's not about the money. So what does he want exactly again?

Shane, I gotta know... You seem to defend Q at all costs. Most of us who have respected and admired Q as much as you have, seem more capable of putting TEAM before player... So I gotta ask:

1.) Exactly what is it that you feel the Cards screwed up? And, whatever that might be - was it so aggregious that this same team who has treated Q extremely well since he entered the NFL, and gave him a new contract just 2 years ago that included $10million in guaranteed money, is now the anit-christ?

2.) Are you a fan of the Cards or a fan of Q? You can be both by the way and if that's your answer... cool...

Very well put. As I said in my letter to Q, he is NOT bigger than the bird on his helmet. No player is. We've seen great players come and go. Anneas Williams was one of the greatest. When he left, it was good bye and good luck. And you have said it so well, when did the Cards become the anti-christ?

referance #2 you should already know the answer to. If you dont then I dunno what to say.

I dont defend Q. I just state the facts as we know them. Many of you get your panties all bent about this when there really is no reason to. I used to get bent out of shape anbout players doing this but not anymore. I have realized that they need to get what they can get when they can get it.

I dunno if the Cards screwed up or not, but I am inclined to believe that they promised him something that they didnt give. Q outright states that he was told if he made another Pro Bowl they would rework his deal. Well he made that pro bowl and the team made him an offer. That leads me to believe the team did say it or why would they offer at all??

However that offer was BUSH LEAGUE with a capital B. Thus Q feels slighted and upset. I dont blame him if its true. If its not true then hes just a greedy bastard. I am dissapointed in him about the whole thing no doubt. But in the end if he isnt traded he WILL PLAY and give his all next year. Thats really all I can ask for and I will still wear his jersey and cheer him dutifully!

NONE of us know the truth and that really is the bottom line. So the way many of you talk about him and make comments like he talks like he has been mistreated by the team since the beginning(which is comletely not true) I speak up.

I have made it more than clear that I am willing to part with Q for the right deal. The team is first and foremost and is the one I have been suffering with for 20 years.

OK... thanks...

For the record, I also agree that the offer the cards "reportedly" made was Bush League...

So... if Q is really so "hurt" by it all... If he so deeply feels that he's been slighted by the team, then he should do all he can to secure a trade. He can continue to cry to his ***** agent, and become a loud-mouth cry-baby to the media... "My relationship with the Cards can never be repaired"... oh the drama... I swear I once heard Susan Lucci utter a similar phrase about some dude she was shagging on General Hospital...

Otherwise, be the MAN you claim to be and the one we always knew you to be, and keep your mouth shut... Let you ***** agent work the trade and you can then ride off with all of the love and respect you deserve.

Just not that simple. When you have every news guy with a microphone and sports reporter in your face asking you the ?'s evry living 2nd of teh day while you are at NFL funtions like the PB it just isnt possible.

Q is a man that doesnt hide his feelings and says what hes thinking. Him answering honestly IS BEING THE MAN we all have known to come and love over te years. Now we are crucifying him because we dont like what he feels.

Am I the only one that would look to deal the guy even if he wasn't acting like TO Jr? If they get a great deal it will only improve the team. I could care less about his whining anymore. But for the record, he may be the biggest whiner in Cardinals history. At least Rice didn't miss 1/3 of every season.

Sorry Shane... I can't cut him that type of slack...

I can guarantee you that Q is not the first pro athlete to feel this way. I can also say with a very high degree of confidence that there are players in the Hall of Fame who have indeed felt this way. Yet, they were smart enough and man enough to keep their emotions in check and not cry to the media.
In real life (pro sports is not real life... I get that...), you are not only judged by your actions, but in many cases you are held more accountable by your words.
When Q airs his laundry, there is no way we as fans should be expected to simply say, "Damm... poor Anquan... He was dicked over by the Cards and shoot... look at that boy - his feelings are really hurt!"... Nope... As fans, we see and hear that drama and can only presume that Q is being childish and selfishm and certainly misled by his ***** agent...

It's too bad... I think Whiz, Warner and the rest of the team and organization really want him back... Oh well... Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

The team was in total disarray without Antwan. Proof was the Carolina playoff game :sarcasm:

THey don't need him. He's an injury prone receiver at a position of surplus. Get rid of him and address other needs. I can't wait until he's gone. I would say that I hope he gets dealt to a team that we play next year except there is a strong chance he would be inactive that week anyway so who really cares where he ends up.

By the sam token there are HOFers who HAVE aired their laundry in public and and stated things to the media. Just the way it is. This is a whole other era than what we were used to 20 years ago brother. Try not to forget that.

That aint it. He's being disengenuous. It's about money. Period.

Because the org. antied up and tore up his rookie contract. He signed the new long term deal. Now he's saying the team reniged on promises. What promises?! If that deal was too long why did he sign it! He could have been a FA allready last year. The Cardinals did what was good for their team. Boldin did what was good for him. He wasn't thinking of the team and what he was doing for them when he signed it.

Sure he's played well and deserves to get a new deal. The Cardinals wanted that too, but it's not just about the players getting theirs. They need to know that when they sign (other than the rookie deal) that the whole deal is binding, with the option belonging to the club to carry it through or if it's in the teams best interest to redo it. It's obviously in the teams interest to do that, but now he's not interested. Wonderful, move on.

You had a Davis jersey????? WTH? For some reason thats all I remember from the thread.

Hey, he was a 1st round pick and I thought he would bethe anchor to our offensive line for years to come. Come to think of it , I SHOULD just throw it away or donate it to charity.
