This seems quite straight forward to me. With Kittle out the Cards won‘t need Simmons in coverage. As such they could spy Lance with Simmons, forcing the SF QB to attempt more passes and giving the pass rush a chance to shut him down.

Is Deebo playing? They could always lock Simmons on him to and have the olbs contain the pocket...
Or even put Simmons on Deebo and have Collins spy Lance.... think Collins can catch him? I heard the dude runs a legit 4.4

Covering Deebo is a major concern. I don’t think Simmons would prosper against that tough of a WR. The Cards have to disrupt the passing game. Once you use someone to spy it becomes difficult to double a receiver. Instead of my idea they could bring Baker in over the top to help cover Deebo. He’s the threat, for sure.

I agree, was thinking the same thing. Simmons should be a full time spy.

lance will mainly throw short, whoever covers Deebo just needs to tackle.

A good way for us to get them away from the run, is score TDs. Make them one dimensional
Exactly and the Cards will score on them. Cards need to come out the gate scoring. And I don’t think Bosa has a sack against Murray yet either. I hope that continues

lol I want Vance fired Monday if puts Simmons on Deebo.
D..... ya gotta think outside the box man!!
Simmons ran a 4.39
Deebo ran a 4.48

And iirc Simmons had more snaps at corner in college than he did at LB

Kittle is out right? So we don’t need him there... who else can stick with Deebo and match his physicality?

Wilson if he plays but Deebo might beat him up

Just because he played some time at corner in college doesn’t mean he should in the pros. When he was, he wasn’t covering guys close as talented as Deebo. 40 time irrelevant here. He doesn’t have the fluidity to cover a WR like Deebo. Wilson actually does & it makes way more sense to put him on Deebo instead of Simmons.

Yup. I was having a difficult time solving for the cover kittle/spy lance conundrum. Consider it solved with kittle out. Spy away simmons!

what i expect from Shanahan:

he will start out with run heavy looks, but will call four or five well designed play action passes to give Lance some easy reads and completions and make the Cards respect the pass

game thread might have lots of "WTH Defense?" posts in the first half

I don’t know what the hell to expect from trey lance, and neither does the cardinals. I know it’s Division and traditionally physical Against a great defense. ain’t got no eggs to count yet.
