The players generaly need time to mesh together. I think Phoenix benefited from the trade in the long term, and I believe Gortat will continue improving his defensive game.

Anyone who has something to point out should speak up, the team needs to admit what they're doing wrong and keep working on it. I'm glad Gortat said what he said.

I can't speak for others but the fact that Gortat spoke up doesn't bother me. It does, however, bother me that he spoke up publicly. He hasn't been here long enough to establish the kind of position on the court or in the locker room to warrant throwing his teammates to the wolves. You want to go public only after you've exhausted the other options. Anything else comes across like grandstanding IMO although I still think his standing in Poland has a lot to do with the public aspect of these comments.

Even a new coach takes a few weeks to get acclimated to his new team before he speaks like this.

Gortat needs to shut his trap. Maybe its a cultural disconnect, but it is definitely a mistake.

The Suns bad defense was the elephant in the room. I'm glad somebody finally articulated it clearly so we can move on to the next stage which is to do something about it. I'm sure he ruffled a few feathers by being so public but maybe that's what the Suns need.

Marcin was a bit over the top with his comments, for a new, young player, but now his teammates can jump all over him when he doesn't do his job. The immediate effect has been good and if it doesn't wear off quickly, we'll have to admit it was a good thing, however impolitic.

Your acting as if he released a statement that included all his coments.

He was asked what he thinks of the defense so he answered. He was asked why he thinks the defense is so bad and he answered. He was asked what they should do to improve and he answered.

Its not like he just came out and said whatever. He was asked what his stance on things are and he gave a honest response.

He was brought here to improve the defense and he knows that. So if the defense looks bad, he also looks bad so he's probably gonna do whatever it takes to change it around even if it means ripping the defense. You can tell he's pissed too cause he says "When guys come into the locker-room and starting talking about the offense, you know, that's not how you're gonna win games." Why should our team talking and be worrying about our offense when we have been top 5 offensively for the past like 8 years.

If anything Gortat showed that he can be a leader of this team. And it looks like it paid off too yesterday and he complimented them yesterday. too.
