This show has not only jumped the shark it has leaped above sharknado also!
I felt like this happened in Season 6 with the Louis Greene character, but they've always flirted with absurdity because of the premise. The absurd formula:
1. Dexter finds a new homicidal play pal.
2. Sometimes that new friend comes ready to play. Sometimes Dexter helps them discover their "dark passenger," implying he has super powers who can change a person's chemistry in a way usually only a violent childhood or a serious head injury can. Either that or the ability to become totally detached from our humanity and any sense of remorse comes much easier than we ever realized. We just need a professional coach. I guess.
It's followed by one of 3 scenarios, sometimes all 3 in the same season:
A. Debra finds a way to become sexually involved with the one man that can bring Dexter down
B. Debra stumbles her way into love life of Dexter's play pal, sometimes with both oblivious to their totally improbable connection.
C. Absent A or B, Debra gets the hots for her stepbrother.
I imagine scenarios being drawn from a hat, or maybe a Season Story Thread MadLib, to determine which way they will write the main story lines.
I was so happy someone killed LaGuerta. I wish they had also killed off Debra ... in Season 1. Most. Annoying. Character. Ever. It's like watching a grown woman as played by a 13-year-old pubescent boy. I have an overwhelming urge to give her a swirlie in the locker room.
I could go on. I'm tired. I stopped watching this show. I'm just here to complain about it going from pretty interesting to totally unwatchable in a big hurry.
