Just for the hell of it I watched season 1, episode 1 last night.

What a difference. It's amazing how awful and cheesy the show has gotten since.

i thought the finale was atrocious, like the rest of the season, but i do echo you're last comment. FINALLY indeed. now i want to watch next season. but this season was just awful.
Agreed. I also don't care much for this whole Deb being in love with Dexter storyline that seemed to come out of nowhere in the last few episodes.

Horrible season... And the cliffhanger ending was such crap.

She finds out because she wants to reveal some pseudo incestuous feelings she has?

The psychologist scenes left me puzzled all season long. And why the hell did the whole prosthetic hand thing not get resolved??

I think it was the easiest part of the cliffhanger to finally have it happen. They way they revealed it gives me no hope that the writers will be able to do the hard part.... which is to actually watch her deal with those feelings. What a stupid season.

This show got bad the second Lithgow left.

Chuck's Yvonne Strahovski Joins Dexter Season 7

From Showtime:

Actress Yvonne Strahovski has joined the cast of Showtime's "Dexter." Strahovski, who will appear in a multi-episode story arc in the upcoming seventh season, will play the role of Hannah McKay, a strong, independent woman with a past that she's struggled to put behind her. As a turn of events leads Miami Metro Homicide to ask for her help in solving some old cases, Dexter works with her and begins to wonder if there's more to this woman than she's professed.

Just finished the last season and wasn't as dissapointed as many of you. It started great and the killings had a great premise which unified different subplots like brother sam and quinns sins and laguertas judasness. Once the gellar twist occured which I honestly didn't see it did go a little downhill.

I think the dexter deb love question was building for awhile and knew it would eventually be where their relationship headed. They are the only people who they have truly loved. Looking forward to next season to see how it plays out. Also I believe the next serial killer will be the intern, the hand sent that in motion.

The showrunners have a real thing for cute, blonde, girl-next-door types. Strahovski is a younger, sexier Julia Benz.

I'm putting this in spoilers for those of you who didn't watch and don't want to watch the previews:
So we can see the approach they are going to take. Dexter will somehow convince Deb that this was a momentary lapse of reason and she will buy it, sort of, and even help him cover it up, but will become more and more suspicious as the season goes on that this wasn't a one-time incident.

I don't think I like it. It would seem more convincing if she became suspicious of his activities before she caught him in the act. Now, the idea that she can somehow ignore all the evidence in front of her, even if only temporarily, seems hard to believe.

I hope she does her job and finds out that he's lying to her.

My guess is that they will typecast her like many dumb women on TV. Bound by her emotions, and tied to the hip of the guy she has hopelessly fallen for.

Be a badass bitch.... Do your job....Confront the serial killer. That's good TV. Not, "I have to cover this up because he's my step brother and I love him"! Oh.... And I REALLY LOVE HIM!

I saw Julia Styles at the Soho House last night. They did a really good job of dumbing her looks down. She's a serious cutie.

It would be nice if they break away from the norm and not have the one serial killer per season and focus more on the current storylines.

Neither season 2 nor season 3 had serial killers aside from Dexter in them.

Season 2 you are right it is dexter as the "Bay Harbor Butcher" but season 3 was "The Skinner". My bigger point is the past what 4 seasons we have had the same story arc. I hope this season will strictly be about Deb and Dexter and figuring out the past and future. The writing on Dexter has been subpar the past two years just hoping for something more.

Doh! Forgot about the Skinner. He was a forgettable killer for sure. I agree that the last two season were poor and hope this one can live up to season 4 levels.

They really dropped the the ball on the dexter deb storyline, things are becoming unrealistic and predictable again. Its like the writers dont know actual human reactions. Like who in their right right mind would act the way deb does knowing her brother is a serial killer.

It's exactly what I was afraid would happen. The "Deb finding out" storyline was many years in the making, so it was easy to write that part. That's why those few early episodes looked promising. The difficult part was what to do with it afterwards, what kind of resolution to provide. And if these are the same writers who are responsible for the debacles of the last few seasons, then clearly they haven't learned much in the process.
