If there is one team that I love watching lose it's the Giants. Let's get them while Barry is hurt.

I like Clayton's defense but him batting 2nd is killing this team. Bases loaded and he swings at a ball in the dirt.

Lowrys already at 93 pitches after 5 innings.... maybe we can wear out the bullpen for the series tonight

Was that the real Javier Vazquez we saw out there tonight? I sure hope so.

great, bruney gives up a double, wild pitch and a walk... all with 2 outs!

melvin is taking him out.. hopefully lyon will come in and wreak some havac.

i hate being so negative like this, but it's like watching groundhog day over and over again.

Lyon got them out of a bad situation with some great pitching.

3 words describe Lyon's breaking ball ... just plain nasty

What clutch pitching by Lyon right there... That last pitch to Grissom was utterly "sick"......

I wonder if the Dbacks should though demote down soon one of their position players (probably Hairston or Kata) to clear room for another middle-reliever....

It just seems that both Hairston and Kata are just wasting spots on the bench and they're in dire need for some relief help because Koplove has been "down-right" brutal recently and Bruney seems to be "over-extending" himself...

Lyon gives up a run, but hangs on for the save.

2-1 Dbacks

Props to Vazquez 7 shut out innings. I hope to see more of that from him.

What has happened to the offense?!?!

Losing Cruz did not help. Plus, having Clayton batting second is really hurting this team.

Not the dominant stuff you're looking for in a #1. Not to be the pessimist, but it actually seemed like the Giants weak lineup just kept hitting it to the wrong spots. I guess the W is all that matters, but I'm still not convinved Javy is his former self.

Vazquez looked good from what I saw. Got out of trouble when he needed to. Yeah, he gave up singles, but that happens. It's making sure they don't all happen in the same inning that is big. You don't have to rack up the K's to have "Ace Stuff". Tonight, Javy was pretty damn close.

Fortunate that Giants "offense" is totally inept. We'll take the win, but should Vasquez pitch like that against a decent team, we'd see a completely different result.

Hairson was just brought up while Cruz is out injured. And now he's primarily an outfielder.

And if you send Kata down, that leaves only Cintron as backup 2B-SS-3B. You can't have only one spare infielder.

If another middle reliever deserves to be brought up, he'll need to replace an existing one.

What a great decision by Gonzo in the 9th (even though Brennaman and Grace rediculed it at first).

Allowing the runner on third to score a meaningless run on a fly ball (we were up 2-0 at the time) while keeping the tying run on 1B and out of scoring position.

It worked. We won 2-1. Good goin', Gonzo.

Doesnt it scare anyone else that until the 9th, we only posted 2 hits?

That and considering how patient we were in the 1st inning we could have such a lousy offensive game.

Plus against Colorado and Wash we did the same things, posting not much offense to lukewarm pitching. This team needs to get back on pace....

Early on this season, we were leading the league in team HR's. I hope we don't fall back into the rut of trying to play AL baseball in the NL, as during the Brenly years.

I used to dread when Tony Womack would get his first or second HR of the season, 'cause then he tried every at-bat, all season long, to get his third.

Popup after popup after popup.

Just as with with Sexson last year, Troy Glaus is the only hitter in the lineup who should go up thinking HR each at-bat.

Not Gonzo, not Green, not even Clark. And certainly not Tracy or Cruz.

With our pitching staff, most of our lineup, even the sluggers, can't lose sight of the importance of situational hitting.

I've admired how Gonzo is perhaps the best situational hitter in the game (for a HR guy). It's interesting that recently he said that his career goal for 2-base hits is more important than that for homeruns.

I hope they don't take that away from him. Swinging for the gaps, and picking the pitch you want to put in the air, is better for him . . . and better for the team.
