Will we hire someone else and not wait for Shurmur? Will Keenum now be the QB the Vikings want to keep if their 3 for next season?

All MB&SK have to do is wait another week. They can have a second interview with Shurmur then, regardless of whether the Vikings win or lose. They can also schedule second interviews with John DeFilippo, Jim Schwartz and Brian Flores at that time if they wish. The Lions have told all other applicant they have c;used their search---per numerous media reports, they have reached an agreement with Matt Patricia

In the meantime, MB&SK will likely conduct 2nd interviews in Arizona this week with Steve Wilks, Mike Munchak and possibly Keith Armstrong.

It appears right now that Shurmur will have a choice between the Cardinals and the Giants, that is, if both wait a week and are convinced he's their top choice.

The only downside to MIN winning is more teams will become interested in Shurmur, supposedly the NYG are now focusing on Shurmur as well.

My Take: NYG is always the favorite to land Shurmur. I am at loss when people say Giants job is any way inferior to Cardinals job. It is the freaking New York Giants. Shurmur's agents are trying to drive his compensation up by playing Cardinals card.

I agree with you on Shurmur most likely taking the Giants job. If so, we shouldn't criticize Bidwill and Keim for not landing him. It won't come down to the money, it will be that is just where he wants to go. IMO we will still hire a good coach.

I am not sold on Wilks + DeFilippo combo as I see they are both relatively inexperienced as coordinators. Whoever it is hope Cardinals finish better than 8-8 next season. It is so much fun to critique a winning football team than a losing one.

I want Munchak anyways! Imo Keenam isn’t all that great so that’s why I prefer him

Does not take much to be considered 'good' now. This season is really the worst product the NFL have ever offered if you judge the value by talent and good football. Really, the Titans get into the playoffs with the Jags and the Jags are still playing. The Cards had a mediocre team with all the injuries but we beat those guys. Then you have the Eagles and Vikings with their crap backups. Really hard to say what is success since even if Shurmur makes Keenum look good, maybe the defense they are facing is really not that great either. Something tells me the playoffs teams from ten years back would beat the living crap out of these guys, minus the Patriots. Hard to judge coaches with the quality of play I'm seeing in my opinion

Totally agree.

Imo Atlanta choked & the Taints choked! The 2 best QBs in the NFC playoffs did their best to will their teams too Ws but home field advantage strikes again.

I still can’t believe that ending today!
Wowza. :shocker::shock::shocker:

Why the interest towards him should increase?
Their offense is nothing special, they got where they are cause they have a super defense, playing with lot of effort
And Imo they have the best secondary in the nfl
Zimmer and the defensive coordinator has all the credit

Yup. People can blame kneeling players or concussions for falling ratings and I’m sure they’ve both taken chunks out of the ratings, but this has been, bar none, the worst, most boring season of football I can ever remember in 30 years of watching.

There’s an absolute lack of greatness throughout the league right now. Yes, there’s been a couple good playoff games, but is any one REALLY jacked for what’s usually the best Sunday of football next weekend?

I’m very much looking forward to Patriots vs Jags.

This is what I call an “upset”. They happen in sports & that’s what make them so great.

It’s like people are criticizing that new teams are rising instead of being offered the same old teams (Steelers-Packers-Seahawks-Colts) just because these new teams aren’t used to being “must watch” television.

I can easily think of worse seasons than this one & that’s even accounting all the injuries to the star players.

Believe me, it's likely an agreement is in place if this is the case and in all likelihood waiting for the Vikes to be out of the playoffs is all but a formality.

Kneeling players is the top reason followed by DV incidents, level of play, and the officials throwing hankies every other play. The last one is the single reason why the game has no flow anymore.

If anything, it might help us if Shurmur is our #1 target! Nobody in this HC search process has the patience of MB/SK, for good or for worse. Yet I could see one or two other teams announcing their HC this week, trying to not be the leftover. Either way, I'm not going to celebrate or hate on any choice we make. More often than not the underwhelming hires turn out to be great coaches, while the flashy names fade away quickly.

Did you see that almost as many people boycotted in support of the players kneeling, as we're against them kneeling?
