I guess I misremembered it. Madcarddisease had an inside source who reported it, so not official media source, but it is believable based on the total lack of growth of a number of players on the offensive line.

"A total lack of growth" including D.J. Humphries? Again, how much did Toner really show when he was released in 4 weeks?

What are the number of players? A bunch of mid- to late-round picks? It's just not a believeable pattern unless you're looking for reasons to gripe.

Yeah that was basically Cole telling someone very close to him his perspective on things who in turn passed it on to me. I'm confident that Cole felt that way. Now how much of it was Cole being a Millennial vs Goodwin being a bad OL coach is debatable. I personally believe it was a little of both.

I do remember Toner throwing out some not-so-subtle hints that he wasn't a fan of the Goodwin/Arians methods - when he was doing his weekly segments on Doug and Wolf. He basically suggested that there are better ways to get things done without yelling at somebody. The question wasn't a direct question about Goodwin. But you knew who he was taking a free poke at.

When I heard that, it made me think about the wide chasm of backgrounds that NFL guys come from - and the challenge it would be to coach up everybody effectively. On the one hand, you have alot of guys that grew up in extremely rough neighborhoods - on the other hand, you have Ivy Leaugers like Toner. I was always impressed by Arian's ability to hold the respect of all or most of his players. It's a herculean task. I do have to say though that so far, I am digging Ray Brown's and Wilk's methods of bridging those gaps. We'll see how it works out.
