1. I called maybe a month ago and had my Sunday Ticket package dropped from $59.99 to $36.99 a month. All I did was simply ask if there was a Sunday Ticket discount and the guy placed me on hold and gave me that offer. Didn't threaten to cancel.

2. Called again last week after doing some research that you should probably call a couple of times if you don't get it free the first time.

The second call was the same - asked if I could get any discounts because I am trying to lower my bill. The guy didn't have much other than offering to give me a lesser package or disconnect receivers.

Told him I totally respect him trying and appreciate his advice but asked if he could transfer me to someone else that could potentially help out and he advised that the Retention department may be able to.

Within 30-45 seconds of my initial plea for a discount on my bill or Sunday Ticket overall, the next guy I spoke to in retention gave me $40 off my bill for the next 12 months. So easy and painless.

In essence, Sunday Ticket is free and I am getting $40 off a month for the next 12 months.

Just keep trying, be nice. You don't have to threaten service or give this 'loyalty' spiel. I've been a customer for only two years and they've bent over backwards every time. They're willing to help and go the extra distance fairly easily if you just ask nicely.

Seems like a lot of work, jeez in the old times none of this was needed. Maybe America was better back then.

Ehh.. I dunno... Been doing it for 7-8 years now... Before that, it was reasonable enough that I didn't hassle with it.

It's funny. years ago they broke up AT&T as a monopoly... Yet somehow DTV has cornered the market on Sunday Ticket since day one???

We have this thread every year. And it's always the same.

Everyone enjoys feeling like they got over on 'The Man' even if its only a mirage that lasts but a brief instant.

Great one, pal! Ha! So true. Just wait until next month's bill and you have to call them again. Such a game with them.
