Ive found the majority of NFL games are boring.

As cardinal fans we get spoiled by our downfield offense. And then you switch to the Texans-Browns and its 10-6 in the 4th.

10-6 in the 4th quarter is an awesome game. You young buck don't remember/know how football was played in the 60s. That my friend is what we called a defensive battle, and I for one love those games. Oh and by the way football is never boring to me, I sat in my man cave the opening week of preseason and watched every game I could, never left the house.

Agreed. This generation doesn't know of 3-0 games, 6-3, 7-3.

I disagree, football can absolutely be boring.

Especially 2 bad teams that cant get 1st downs so theres 10 punts per quarter

Yeah, well they bored me in the 60's and they bore me now. So, each to their own, it has little to do with "generation".
If you want high scoring then there's Arena football. But just like baseball, a good pitchers duel is just as fun as a home run derby. The Dolphins/Patriots snow blower game(3-0 Pats) was a classic game in the snow. 3-0 games are especially great when it's getting late in the game.

I absolutely love a low scoring game.... assuming of course it is due to excellent defense and not just putrid offense.
some folks just don't have the passion for the purity of the game...just like nba fans they have to see more points... catering to these folks is why the nfl is working on destroying the game...making rules changes to force more scoring and basically make defense obsolete.

My deal:
$40 off for 12 months.
ST Max reduced from $59.99 to $44.99
10% off $44.99 brought it to $35 something per month.
$7, $7, $5 off of HBO, Sho, & Sports pack = $19 per month for 6 months.

It took 3 phone calls over a 30 day period. And the final call was to retention.

Prolly an hour and a half of time invested.

I went through a similar pattern a few weeks back, although I didn't resort to calling for retention.

However, I looked up my bill total for this month on-line and saw that none of my recently bargained discounts (which had started on last month's bill) were being applied to this month's bill. I was furious.

It took a half an hour just to get connected with a supervisor. The first agent told me that this month the discounts wouldn't apply because they had been taken off last month's bill. She said wait another month and the discounts will show up again.

That's when I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was put on hold...was channeled back to the original programmed "what are you calling about" message...has to wait to get another agent on the phone and asked her to connect me asap to a supervisor---and then was put on hold for about 10 minutes....to add to the 25 minutes I had already spent.

Thus, when the supervisor heard my story she applied the $60 in discounts for this month and said I was all set, moving forward.

I will be checking my bill every month on-line and will be ready to call again.

It's a real hassle. I think they count on people not wanting to deal with it and just paying whatever the bill says.

When, DTV gets competition for NFL Sunday Ticket, they are not going to be able to pull these stunts any more.

Called DTV last week. Got my package cut from $117 a month, down to $85. Also they took 20% off of NFL package. But I've been with them for almost 25 yrs.

Didn't the Jets beat us 7-6 recently?

Last jets game I remember was when Q got his face broken. I don't care if we beat them 7-6 this year, as long as we win!
Go Redbirds!

I've found that how long you've been with DirecTV is secondary to how much you spend on your usual service. If you have the most expensive package, all the movie channels, etc., then they are more willing to discount the Ticket if you ask.

But if you have the cheapest package and no extras, that's when they say there aren't any discounts to be given.

Well, I put it off forever, but I am thrilled to report, I got Sunday Ticket for free once again!!!

And $20 a month off my regular programming for 12 months!!!

No new tips/tricks to share... I called up, said "cancel service" and got connected to a complete sweetheart.

Told her I had been with DTV since launch.... Tired of watching my bills get higher every month, and I was going to take Fios up on their 2 year guarantee package.

I was worried this year would be the time when they called my bluff....as it turns out, It was my most fruitful call ever.

A 12 month discount, is twice as long as my previous best.

In case it hasn't already been mentioned.. opening weekend is a freebie for all. Anyone with DTV gets the whole enchilada for free this weekend. If you haven't already seen DTV's version of Red Zone (which is not the same as everywhere else - Andrew Siciliano is the host and he's AWESOME in this role), check it out.

Also, I'm really not sure why, but the rep I talked to about a month ago recommended to call back on the 11th and they will give a better deal. I don't know the reasoning behind it, but that's what he told me.

Not a fan of any of the red zone programs, it like watching fantasy football. I usually pick a game and stick to it except for during commercials, half times, and if one of my players on my fantasy team (which I don't have one this year) are in the red zone. Of course all that goes out the window during Cards games, I don't even change the channel at half time.

I received $38 off for the next 6 months and only had to do an online chat. A friend cancelled, then returned to the chat two days later and received $50 off per month for the next 6 months, so I know my deal isn't that great.
