Can't say I noticed a problem, but when I got home from work yesterday both my receivers were on, which was weird. That's happened a couple times and I know they are off when I leave for work.

DirecTV sent out a signal to the boxes around lunchtime that fixed most everyone's issues. That's why your boxes were on. The folks who were watching tv before that had to do the "double reboot" to force a guide data flush. Those that were at work (like me) weren't really affected too much.

I did. They rolled out another update. I had to unplug my DVR's twice. Then everything was working normal. They wouldn't respond to remotes or anything.

All is good now.

Same here on both of my HR-21's

two full un-plug's and re-boots and it was fixed.

I updated by receivers to HD awhile back with DirecTV. It irritated me that I have to pay $5.00 per month if I have a problem with their equipment. IMO, since I'm renting their equipment I shouldn't be charged to fix a problem if there is an equipment failure. The installer, who seemed to be a straight shooter, said it was worth it as he has seen failures and I would be responsible if he has to come out. Also I dislike this two year contract that DirecTV seems to slap on you when there are equipment changes. Now I'm wanting a HD-DVR receiver but don't want to deal with a new contract.

I so wish someday where a customer only has to pay for the channels they watch... not what they package.

I'm pretty happy with DTV -- I've found them quite customer-service oriented when I've had questions or the rare problem. Just upgraded from HD to HD DVR (Oh my God how did I survive without it??) and they came the next day, and the tech rerouted some screwy old wiring no charge, changed some service things with them for me on the spot, and was gone in an hour and a quarter.

What I probably like best is when I told them firmly never to call me by phone with any offers or general programming stuff -- email me or mail me or leave me alone -- they did exactly that for over a year. Then I had to remind them again, and no problem since.
