Cards had 112 yards on the ground with a good 5.3 yd per carry average. 28 teams have played so far this week, we'we rank 12th in rushing yds per game.

Only two teams won Division Games on the road, not the Lions, the Cowboys or Colts, and not the 49ers! Just the Dolphins and Cardinals.

the Cardinals before Wiz LOSE that game, especially on the road.

If there's ONE thing that I can say defines Wiz's teams over the last 4 years is it's resiliency.

This was a classic opening day game that gave me flashbacks to Cincy in 1997... up 21-16 with a 1:34 left, just had to run out the clock, we guve the ball to Larry Centers on 1st down... and of course he fumbles it. only difference is Jeff Blake hit Darnay Scott in the back of the endzone on the final play of the game to beat us. Today, we got a W.

Cheese, you must have a hell of a memory. I wonder how many times I've seen you quote something that happened many years ago.

My wife has a memory like that, but it only works for supposed transgressions or lack of sensitivity on my part.:D

Blake hit Carl Pickens for the TD and then they went for 2...and Blake hit Tony McGee to go up 24-21. :D

Thank you for injecting some reason in this self loathing pity fest.

I just dropped in to make my one Cardinals post of the week.

Before the game I warned my dad to not get involved with the Cardinals again this season. Don't watch this game, I said. It will just make you upset (he had heart problems). The Cards will just give you enough to maintain hope, then they'll rip your heart out.

He disregarded me and watched the whole thing. It got to the second to last drive for the Rams and I said this is how it always happens. Same old Cards. Then, somehow, Rhodes came up with that interception and he was trying to throw in my face. But I pointed out the Rams still had three timeouts and the Cardinals will either need to get a first down or punt. I told him the Cards will find a way to blow this somehow. They always do.

Then Hightower fumbled. My dad said, "10 years ago this is how they would have lost -- jobbed by the refs -- but now they have replay and they're going to reverse this sucker. No more getting jobbed or cursed." Replay -- it's a fumble. I could see my dad's blood pressure rising. I don't actually know if the Rams had any real place to go seeing as how their receivers are a C+ unit, but if they did, Spagnuolo made sure they weren't going to get a chance to make a play. To me it looked like the Rams were wearing the old Cardinals albatross of a curse, because that was the worst time management I've seen at the NFL level.

Anyway, it wasn't the greatest win, but the Cursed Cards days look over to me. That is a game any long-time Cards fan would expect to lose and they came away with a road division win. Unbelievable.

hey potatoe potato.

we were winning that game 21-3.

I called Cardinals talk after the game and said we would get demolished by Dallas the next week on TNT, saying we couldn't cover their wideouts.

The post-game guys said to me we had corners that could do the job, like Tito Paul. I told them Tito Paul couldn't cover a queen size bed with a king-size sheet.

Then, we went out and beat them on Kevin Butler's doinker off the goal-post in OT.

Good times. We lost our next 6 games I believe.

Again, give me a Wiz team over the previous Cardinals teams any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

But unlikely considering he already fumbled twice in the pre season and had several in Traning camp too.

TH had one priority on his last carry. Hold on to the ball. He failed, and it almost cost us the game.

I appreciate your support of him, and he's a great guy. But so was Josh McCown.

TH fumbling that ball is a freaking joke.

I'm with you Matt, we've lost games that we played better in. Good teams find a way, its a true feat to do the turn around I have witnessed.

Time to look ahead. The Rams game did nothing to alleviate any of the concerns we had going in to the preseason but Whisenhunt has never had the team starting hot--that is his second opening game win in his 4 years here. The team needs to make improvements from game 1 to 2 and Fitz & Beanie need to get healthy.

Another thing that may not happen this week, Brandon McDonald needs to learn that playbook ASAP as we need to see less of Michael Adams on defense.

The OL has to improve. Anderson was beat up today and took a lot of questionable late hits. On one play the line failed to even bother blocking a DE that just walked right in for an easy sack. Holding penalties negated a lot of yardage as well. I was happy with the defense, the secondary was stellar as usual and for the most part they held Jackson in check. There were a few times I would have liked to see them blitz, especially on 3rd and long plays, because when Bradford had time he usually found an open receiver. Thank you Steve Breaston for making the play of the game by forcing that fumble into the end zone for a touchback!

I'll take the win. I take some comfort in realizing we looked even worse in our season opener last year not to mention the fact we lost that game to a division rival.

Well said, if we don't protect DA, Hall isn't ready. O line has got to get it together. We had the running game start up a few times, the fumbles and holding calls stopped all but one drive that was all run. That drive was impressive.

Im here for my one post a week as well. And here are my reasons for opTIMism:

1. Cardinals win a division game on the road. Last year the Rams gave the Cardinals trouble in St. Louis as well. A BIG road win for the Cards!

2. Give QB Derek Anderson a little slack. He was only named the starting QB less then 2 weeks ago- LOL. Let him get a more "healthy" Fitz and Doucet back in the line-up. Let him get a healthy RB C.Wells to hand off too.

3. Cardinals had no major injuries vs Rams. All around the NFL there were big name players going down. As long as Cardinals remain decently healthy they should be a .500 team come December.

4. Division wins will mostly likely be the tie-breaker that determines the NFC West Champion in 2010 (probably with a 9-7 or 8-8 record). Did i mention the win over the Rams was BIG!!!!!!

Go Cardinals!

The biggest upsets this week were the Colts, Cowboys, Chargers and 49ers. All lost Divisional road games. Only the Dolphins and Cardinals pulled out the win. Any questions?

Yeah, just one. Why did I have to catch a freaking cold which made me feel so bad that I can't enjoy the fact that the Cowboys and the 9ers lost while we won? :D

We found a way to win a game that this team would have lost in the past. They didn't fold, even when nothing was going right. They kept fighting.

Week One always favors the underdogs. They have no reason to think they should suck yet. So we got the Rams best shot. We took it and we won anyway.

Objectively the Rams game proved to me that the Rams have improved and we still do some frustrating stuff that we shouldn't be doing this long into the tenure of a HC, namely making tons of mental mistakes.

I don't think it really surprised me at all, in any way, I expected we'd win and I expected it to be closer than anyone thought and I said we could easily lose it, all of the above went on.

Now we go play a real team on the road and we shall see what we have here.

Why are so many people living in the distant past? The Cards have been winning games like the one Sunday (Division game on the road) for years now. We did not lose a single game to a team that finished with a losing record last season.

We're no longer some crap team that should be excited just because we actually won a game. We are one of the top teams in the NFC and we need to have a little higher standards than those from 5-8 years ago.

Totally agree except I believe it's 3-4 years ago (and 20 before that).
Also, I implore you to change your Levi Brown slam. I know AP looks awesome but the Vikes are 0-1 and didn't see the Super Bowl with him. We are 1-0 and Levi has seen one-so far. Why not make fun of Singletary tropping trow' instead of one of our guys?

When Levi Brown stops standing around watching the rest of the line block then I'll change my Levi Brown slam. I changed it last year when Levi started actually playing to the whistle but Brown has reverted to his old ways since moving to LT.

Hey Jake-----you are aware that Levi was one the the three linemen who chased into the endzone to recover the fumble that Breaston caused aren't you ????? I'd hardly call that standing around. Besides, if Whiz isn't calling him out-----why should you????? :mulli:

Chased? That's funny. He was strolling along after the play and after standing around for awhile piled on top of Sendlein.
