I just dropped in to make my one Cardinals post of the week.
Before the game I warned my dad to not get involved with the Cardinals again this season. Don't watch this game, I said. It will just make you upset (he had heart problems). The Cards will just give you enough to maintain hope, then they'll rip your heart out.
He disregarded me and watched the whole thing. It got to the second to last drive for the Rams and I said this is how it always happens. Same old Cards. Then, somehow, Rhodes came up with that interception and he was trying to throw in my face. But I pointed out the Rams still had three timeouts and the Cardinals will either need to get a first down or punt. I told him the Cards will find a way to blow this somehow. They always do.
Then Hightower fumbled. My dad said, "10 years ago this is how they would have lost -- jobbed by the refs -- but now they have replay and they're going to reverse this sucker. No more getting jobbed or cursed." Replay -- it's a fumble. I could see my dad's blood pressure rising. I don't actually know if the Rams had any real place to go seeing as how their receivers are a C+ unit, but if they did, Spagnuolo made sure they weren't going to get a chance to make a play. To me it looked like the Rams were wearing the old Cardinals albatross of a curse, because that was the worst time management I've seen at the NFL level.
Anyway, it wasn't the greatest win, but the Cursed Cards days look over to me. That is a game any long-time Cards fan would expect to lose and they came away with a road division win. Unbelievable.
