Kurt Warner??? Heck, I'd settle for an Andy Dalton!!!!

I like Dalton but I can't be the only one who has noticed this. For the season 15 TD's 12 picks very nice rookie year. But against SF, Pitt and Balt 3 TD's and 7 picks.

So against 3 REALLY good defenses he's been pretty iffy, had a lot of yards yesterday but the rest of that schedule except maybe Cle they have played a lot of bad defenses.

I do like the kid thought but much rather have Peterson.

I still say take the BPA. I like Barkley but not as high as we'll pick I'm still hoping Kalil or a pass rusher is there and I think Acho and Scho are playing well enough if we say in this defense we may need an ILB more than an OLB.

We said this last year with guys like Ponder and the guy Tennessee took. We ended up in the second round and the only guy left on the board was Mallett. :barf:
I would have loved Mallett in the 3rd.

Wasn't Dalton also available in the second?

And we don't have a second round pick. :bang:
I'd conveniently blocked that out.

I don't believe this for a nanosecond.

Luck doesn't have a cannon but Stanford doesn't throw that much anyways and they have no speed at WR(I do like Ty Montgomery).

I think Luck will surprise people in the NFL how well he can actually throw the ball, Harbaugh said it again yesterday when asked about it he can make throws 90% of the guys playing in the NFL can't make. It's just not asked him of at Stanford.

He played in much worse conditions Sat than we did Sunday and it showed, had trouble throwing the wet ball at times but it was MUCH wetter. I had a friend who went they left at halftime becaue of the rain.

I really hope Kolb begins to show some upside with our last meaningless games. I want him to show that he can be our QB of the future. So far, he hasn't shown me anything that would warrant us not replacing him soon. He is not the only QB that came to a new team with a short off-season, and there are rookies who are outplaying him. I want him to do well, but when I watch Matt Barkley I think he may have something special and will probably be available with our pick. However, I'd rather have Kolb pan out and take a OT or Blackmon.

If Cards completely clean house in the front office, I hope they find a QB they like in the first round.

Otherwise, no way.

Over Rob Housler? I don't know if I'd rather have the second coming of Derek Anderson over at least an ostensible committment to utilizing the tight end (something that was conspicuously absent from yesterday's offense, BTW.

Andy Dalton was chosen three or four spots ahead of Ryan Williams. Apparently it was Jon Gruden's brother who had to talk the scouting department out of drafting Mallett in favor of Dalton.

I for one would like to say that I am shocked, SHOCKED that a rookie quarterback playing in a offense with inexperienced weapons would struggle against the three best defenses in the NFL.

Shocked.

Unfounded.

I don't know what to make on Barkley I like him in college I think he's either good or a total bust in the NFL can't put my finger on it.

Barkley is one of those kids from a rich family who had a QB coach as a young kid so he was always ahead of everyone else. He's still quite good at USC but I wonder is he as good as he'll get, or is all that experience with coaching going to be GOOD for him in the NFL

he's an interesting kid when he was in HS 2 years in a row he was on the plane to Loreto for our annual fishing trip. he was with a group of surfers from SoCal which I think included his dad or uncle. One of them told me who he was said thats USC's next QB and I thought oh great OC surfer kid.

But he doesn't play like that at all he plays like a kid with a very good arm who's been very well coached but at times is just a bit too careless throwing into coverage.

I want a real OC first (I know we aren't going to get a different GM), one that has enough power to argue with Whiz and call plays.

Didn't they force this in Chicago? This should be the course of action here.

I'd settle for a QB coach who can communicate between the players and the coaching staff. Whis NEEDS some different voices in there. No one with management experience will tell you that an organization runs best when it's completely insulated from outside experiences.

In a vacuum, yes. It's hard to say, though. I really think Whiz is HORRIBLE with QBs, so even if Mallett could succeed in the NFL I don't have a lot of faith that this organization as it's currently constructed would develop him properly.

You should actually read what I said and not just pick out the part you want to be SHOCKED about.

What I said was against good NFL defenses he's not been very good yet.

He's still a guy in a system that is protecting him, you've seen us for years now have you seen Whiz protect any QB? We finally started doing it the last 2games with some max protect but in general we don't say OK this guy is new we're going to work him into the system.

If Dalton were playing in our offense he'd have a lot of sacks and a lot of INT's because Whiz wouldn't be doing for him what Cincy did for him.

I like the kid but the he's not playing like a rookie stuff has not been true when he's faced any kind of good defense.

Does anyone think this organization is ever going to get a good QB other than how a blind squirrell finds a nut once in a while?

Who's the best drafted QB of all time for the Cardinals?

Charley Johnson, Neil Lomax, Jake Plummer.

Those are as good as it gets.

I'd have to go with Neil Lomax myself just because it's almost modern history.

The next HOF QB we draft will be our first.

Compare this to a team like say .....

The Giants.

The Cowboys

The 49ers

I could go on, we suck.

Well we drafted Namath but that guy signed with the Jets instead.

But you're right.

it is one of the most amazing things in sports history how bad the Cards have been and that we have never once had the first overall pick.

So the problem is Whis. I agree. I think that Whis did a good job the last two weeks in thinking about what a QB needs to be protected, but he took the reins off (IMO because he thinks Kolb's coming back soon).

The real problem is that there's no one on the coaching staff who has the experience or authority to stand up to Whis and say "This isn't how we're going to be successful." It's difficult to believe Mike or Chris Miller are going to get NFL jobs outside of this organization, unless it's as positional assistant coaches.

I'd love to see Housler used more. For whatever reason this team just does not utilize the TE position other than maybe 1-2 times a game. Perhaps this could help take pressure off Fitz considering we have no true #2 receiver.

Housler is hurt and when he was playing Kolb missed him wide open a couple of times(although Sando hinted Housler ran the wrong route on one of them).

I love the kid's talent, if he can stay healthy and block better I think he's a huge weapon going forward if we have a QB to throw the ball to him.

We don't have anyone to protect that passer. Do a quick search for pending 2012 FAs along the OL, and it's possible that Levi Brown will be the headline FA OT. I'd probably trade back for anything (an extra third) to get better value, but we're a long time before the draft comes along.

That is why you keep/sacrifice Kolb next year even of you do draft a QB in the first round. Remember that 1st rounders are no longer the financial burdens that they used to be.

We need to sign Norv Turner to be our offensive coordinator this offseason after he gets fired from San Diego.

I'd be very opposed to us targeting a QB in the first round. Given the lock of offensive talent at key positions (most notably OT, WR, and healthy TEs) and the current state of the fans perception of the QB position (Skelton is the savior! Oops, I really mean Skelton should be a bagger at Wal-Mart!) , I don't know if any college kid could come here and be successful. I'd prefer to use our first round pick grabbing someone to help Kolb (preferrably an OT, but an elite WR to complement Fitz would work too), surrounding him with better talent, and giving him a full offseason to master the offense would be better than starting over with the next great hope.

I wouldn't like to blow a 1st rounder on another QB as well that's why I am hoping Kolb shows me something with these last games. I'd love drafting Kalil or Blackmon though. Could you imagine the nightmare DC's would have to deal with dealing with Fitz and Blackmon? Kalil may go 2nd or 3rd I think.
