If so, speculate on which WR could be released....DGB? Janis?

I don't think we need one. We don't really have anyone that we should outright release. Our top 4 is essentially set, and we'll probably hold onto six, with a need for some of them to play special teams.

I think we needed to get a #1 for when Fitz retires. Not that he's a #1 anymore, but we don't have a #1 and are still relying heavily on Fitz.

I mean, I'm not blaming the team for not getting a #1 WR. The stars didn't align for us to do so. Barring that, no, there's no sense cutting one of our own to add a depth WR.

I don't know if a David Johnson driven BA offense needs a "#1" receiver. I think it needs a bunch of 2's and 3's with speed to stretch the field.

If Chad williams can develop into "consistently good Floyd" and smokey returns to form and jj progresses and brown can be a chain mover (with returned health) I think we are set for a long time.

I think Chad Williams has a very good chance of becoming a number one WR... he just has all the traits minus a big time college program in my opinion

Back in the early sixties (I believe) we had a VG WR named Williams who came out of nowhere. Hopefully, Chad can be one, also.

If John Brown is back and healthy, you'll see the dynamic passing game of 2 years ago. Him not being himself last year really hurt the team. As for the question, we will need one, just not this year.

Surprised that they cut Chris Hubert, especially this early. He's got speed and playmaking ability and was good insurance in the speed role behind Brown and Nelson.

He will need someone on the opposite side of him in order for that to happen. DJ and Fitz will be working the short/intermediate routes, so Brown and someone else will need to be deep. Nelson?

We really have been spoiled with some great WR's for a long time.

Chad strikes me as a guy drafted to replace Fitz's dirty work on the line and catching tough balls in the slot. He won't get much play time early, but I can see him making plays all over the field late in the season.

Hopefully John Brown can return to form, and when paired with JJ, they can keep safeties deep.

Jaron Brown should be primed to take Floyd's role outside the numbers, with Golden getting some spot duty in relief.

Add Gresham and DJ's ability to catch the ball, the offense should remain dynamic without the prototypical Big WR.

I'd love to see us pick up where they left off in 2015. I think Floyd and JB's issues are the primary reason the O ran aground last year. We couldn't get deep, nor could we complete passes to the outside. It left opposing D's with a much smaller field to defend.

Go Cards!!!

I was surprised they cut the guys they cut (especially the long ones). Makes me think they've already arrived at determining Floyd's replacement (probably Chad W).

They probably determined in advance that Binford, Bundy and Huber weren't going to win out in Camp and the only reason they're keeping Hogan, the Rutgers kid etc. instead is they haven't yet seen what those guys can do.

Honestly I've never seen what you like about him.

Andre Ellington could be a factor. He is a savvy pro. Chad Williams great personality. He lights up the room, you need a few of those guys around. He'll get a lot more chances on that basis alone.

They Cardinals usually carry 6 wide receivers max.:

Larry Fitzgerald
John Brown
Jaron Brown
JJ Nelson
Chad Williams

I personally like when a team has a bigger bodied wide receiver, just to be that possession receiver that can move the chains in tight coverage. Arians put it out there, he is not concerned with size, he is all about speed.

Fair enough, and Jaron Brown is a pretty good possession receiver, so that is a pretty solid group.

Just to make the 6th roster spot, and practice squad spots is going to be tough. The Cardinals already have some vets, like Aaron Dobson on the roster, thus I do not think they need another wide receiver. JMHO.

Agree on Chad Williams. He strikes me as a special character in a positive way. Looks really physical in person and on tape. Love the Boldin comparisons. After Fitz's retirement we need that type of physical chain mover.

As for Ellington, he has the perfect skill set to be a shifty slot guy with yac skills. Unfortunately, he has developed the bad habbit to shy away from contact in recent years to protect himself, leaving quite a few yards on the field as a runner. I think it will only get worse when catching passes over the middle, where safeties and linebackers are waiting to lay the wood you. Ellington is too small to play outside, so slot is his only chance. I don't like his odds based on the physical demands of the slot position. Doesn't offer anything on special teams. Don't see him cracking the 53.

How can you say this right now? We're hoping his character issues don't carry over to the NFL. Keim and co seem to think he's beyond them and, without his posse in Arizona, I hope so too. But to say he's a 'special character in a positive way' at this point is an extreme version of putting the cart before the horse.

You must not have seen his interview. He's a really good kid from the sound of it. There was one instance where he was in the wrong place at the wrong time & he admits that. He said he needs to watch who his friends are & make wise choices.
