If difference was less than 500k and he claims was willing to take less to stay then why isn't he a cardinal?? Sounds like he's a liar..

Hollow people deflect blame. And it is really distasteful to CHOOSE to go to a hated rival that he has talked smack about for years just to get back at the organization that he grew in for 11 years.

It will never be considered classy to be that spiteful and hateful over less than 500k.

Adub would have NEVER done that.

Here is the big difference for fans crying about Dockett leaving while citing Dansby -

1. Dansby was a free agent and the Cards did not want to pay him and the Cards were definitely worst at defense without him.

2. Dockett was not a free agent. He had a big contract already in place with a he Cards who chose not to honor it. Instead, the Cards tore it Dockett's existing contract and threatened him with being cut if he did not take a huge pay cut.

Dockett refused to take a huge paycut and the Cards cut him. Even after Dockett got a bigger offer, he gave the Carss a chance to match it, but the Cards refused.

If you want to hate and grumble about anyone, direct it towards the Cards, since they are the ones who tore up an existing contract and cut Dockett who did not want to leave. The Cards also refused Dockett's overtures to have them match the 49ers offer. I guess all the Cards' talk of wanting to keep Dockett was bogus since the Cards could have matched the 49ers offer that was a bit more.

I also recall that the Cards were well under the cap last year so letting Dockett go and refusing to match the 49ers' offer that is reported to be just a bit more than what the Cards offerred means the Cards front office really did not want Dockett to return.

Dockett and Cards fans should ask the Cards why they really did not want Dockett to return.

Is it Michael's job to come in and kiss his butt after he had his snake of an agent intentionally work with our most hated division rival (and allegedly the other two divisional teams)?

I never said it was I was just trying to relay info :mulli:;)

Look at it this way: every year 9-0 would talk crap about the Niners, then disappear for that game... It used to drive me nuts! Let's hope it happens in reverse this year, maybe this will be his way to still help the Cards win. :D

Matching the Niner offer equals $4m to him in 2015 plus a $3m dead money charge.

More than the $6.5m due on his old deal.

There's one reason they might pass on a 34 year old coming off injury.

My favorite PFT comment.. this hits the nail on the head, including the predicted Niner record:

Dockett is probably the only man to jump ONTO the Titanic after it struck the iceberg. Enjoy that sinking feeling, Darnell; 5-11 this season.

Considering the cost of living in Frisco, Dockett is losing money on this deal...emotional decisions rarely work.

He isn't going to sell his house and buy a new one in the Bay Area on a two year deal I'm sure.

Of more concern to the Cardinals should be that DD knows our Defensive scheming, blitz packages, audibles, etc. Seems to me that SF paid him more for that, than what he brings physically, but I could be wrong.

That'll all change now that Bowles is gone though.

I really dont understand all the hate for Doc. He was a fan favorite for a reason and had a great run as a Cardinal. It just came to an end. It had to sometime and he is clearly on the downside of his career. If the niners want our castoffs then who cares.

Much love Dock. Thanks for the memories.

I don't think anyone Hates him... They have some discord and rightfully so... He was a hypocrite in relation to "chasing money" and went to likely the most hated division rival. When in his own words "the difference was less than 500,000" yet he also said he "would take less to stay with Arizona" if that's the case he should be in AZ....

There is a huge difference in income tax however. He should've known that he is now going to get taxed like he has never seen before... In the end, the difference in terms of what he will be pocketing between the Cards deal and the 9ers deal is meaningless for all intents and purposes... And for someone who crushed a guy for "chasing the money" rather than "chasing a ring", his decision is all the more hypocritical...
I'm convince this boiled down to who/pride, where Dockett just couldn't allow himself to play for the team that would've delivered a sizeable paycut to him.

Taxes ultimately dont make too much of a difference. It's pretty easy to legally circumvent a majority of your tax liability.
