To us meaning us in general, loyalty is a word that means something and we are loyal to this team. Loyalty is a word that is not in the vocabulary of an NFL player. To them money equals loyalty.

DD chased the money just like every other player would. I just wish he was honest instead of trying to garner sympathy from the fans by throwing the loyalty word around. What would be really funny is seeing Dansby take a shot at him about chasing the money after DD did it last year.

He's a hypocrite of the highest order..

Thank him for what he did... But good riddance!!!

How is he a hypocrite? He was under contract for next season. The team chose to release him from that contract then offered him something below he thought he was worth. SF offered something he considered fair and still gave the Cards a chance to match. They didn't. I don't fault him one bit.

The team could've waited until March 9th to cut him. They released him early to give him the oppty to shop around. They did that as a favor to him... DD knew all along he was going to be cut as there was no way the Cards were going to pay him $6 million this season with a $9 million cap hit!
The Cards then made him an offer. DD decided to go to a bitter rival who offered slightly more. So DD followed a very similar path as Dansby, whom he destroyed for jumping to Cleveland and "chasing the money".

Yea... I'd say he's a hypocrite...

I am really indifferent. He wasn't there last year when we won 11 games. The Cards didn't want him back that badly so I can understand the want to play against us and do well. He most likely isn't going to see that second year of the contract. I'd rather have that money to spend on an offensive lineman that can help us win games. I highly doubt Doc is going to do much against us matching up with the Hulk, maybe I'm wrong.

He'll be matched against Massie and the right guard.

"Very little"

:biglaugh:

In comparison to what he got in SF, yeah. You know what I mean.

Fitz got a healthy, guaranteed salary that would be hard to turn down. Dockett got less than his market value from us and decided to go get it elsewhere. No hard feelings, just wont be a fan of his as long as hes a niner.

Apples to oranges.

Look at it this way: every year 9-0 would talk crap about the Niners, then disappear for that game... It used to drive me nuts! Let's hope it happens in reverse this year, maybe this will be his way to still help the Cards win. :D

The only problems I have with this move are based on nostalgia. Nine-Oh was a proud Cardinal for many years, and I believe he was instrumental in turning around this franchise.

However, from a football perspective, this move makes a ton of sense. The Patriots just released Vince Wilfork, who is six months younger, a better player and not coming off of an ACL tear. Sometimes football moves conflict with sentiment. But as long as we spend the cap savings to upgrade other areas of the team, it's the right move to make. We have Stintson and Martin waiting in the wings, and Rucker is probably as good as DD at this point while making a third of what DD got from the Niners.

Thanks for the memories Nine-Oh, but we'll be just fine without you.

I get it but when you preach all day long about "loyalty" and talk down to Dansby for doing it… Just makes you a hollow person. A true hypocrite who also went to a hated division rival to boot. I can see some hard feelings. Even though I hold none.

Yeah pretty much. Wilfork is a first ballot hall of famer maybe the best ever at his position just a flat out dominate player he's younger healthier and producing more than DD. I loved Dockett when he was here but let's face it he hasn't been a factory the last 2 years. I'm more than comfortable going in with Kelly, Rucker, Stinson and Martin

Now resign WILLIAMS

I was considering burning or throwing mine away but the last two jersey I had that became irrelevant were AW and Beanie. Neither of them played again. I will hang on to mine.

just pretend he retired from the league today and put it in your man cave. He still was an adored player for 10 years, he left us past his prime and that is ok.
