The Miami Dolphins cleared $7.77 million in salary cap space by restructuring the contract of right tackle Austin Jackson, according to Over The Cap.

The move converted $9.71 million of Jackson's salary into a signing bonus that will be spread out over future seasons. The contract is set to automatically void in February 2027 after two more seasons.

Jackson, 25, ended the 2024 season on injured reserve after undergoing knee surgery. Prior to that, he was credited by Pro Football Focus with allowing three sacks in eight games played.

The 2020 first-round pick played left tackle and left guard early in his career in Miami, but has settled in at right tackle in the last three seasons. In December 2023, he signed a three-year extension with the Dolphins.

While some moves -- including a new contract for defensive lineman Benito Jones -- haven't been added, Over The Cap currently estimates the Dolphins have just over $18 million in salary cap space.
