Can anyone think of an example where a player's hype included "You can't teach height" -- and the player turned out to be any good? It seems like every time I read that phrase, it's in reference to an unskilled player who's destined to suck.

Bad players who are tall are still bad players.

From those pictures I think it is quite clear that Lampe is much bigger than the 245 lbs. some web sites and articles report.

It's really hard to guess where any of these guys will fall in the draft now. It sure looks like Howard will be the #1 pick, but past that it's a crapshoot. I do agree with George regarding Pavel though. I've never even seen a picture of him, but I'll bet he doesn't go in the top five. He probably won't even be a top 10 player. His agent spun it likely with two from the draft to go work on his game and heal his feet. However it sounded more like they got no top 10 guaranteed from anybody.

Yao Ming, but Yao doesn't need the phrase "You can't teach height" because he can do almost everything that other centers can and more.
Though he is by far not as good as the hype.

Lampe said in an interview before the season that he has 270lbs and had 240 last year.

Besides that here are some picture of Lampe's girl, maybe ex-girlfriend.

Mike D'Antoni referred to Lampe as being 7'0" 275 and some other reports have him that size as well. Also, it was reported that doctors think he may still be growing and could top out at 7'2".
