Jurecki was initially talking about giving Wilks time, ala Ron Rivera - but Rivera started 6-10 his first year, improving as the year progressed. Who did Rivera replace? John Fox, who went 2-14 the previous year - Wilks is the equivalent of John Fox, not Ron Rivera.

I just want to know who thought that hiring Mike McKoy as OC was a good idea. That’s a huge red flag regarding decision making.

The other red flag is BA wanting to coach the Browns. BA didn’t want to retire. He just didn’t want to coach the Cardinals.

If I am not mistaken, Greg Moore almost always takes the other side of an argument, and I have often felt it was either to disagree only for the sake of it or disagreeing with his colleagues and the public to create discussion material that the newspaper can profit from by writing columns and articles about the specific issue. I can’t come up with examples of the top of my head, but it could for instance be about how they should have stayed with Bradford, or how McCoy was a good coordinator but was made a scapegoat.

It there are only three worthy scapegoats in the universe, they should be named Wilks, Bradford and McCoy.

A QB not ready to withstand an onslaught, an offensive scheme too simple and complicated to understand at the same time with little immagination, and the continuing The O Line saga derailed the season before it knew what hit it. The promise and hope of fresh thinking and a team buying in was lost before any traction could take hold.

They need to show some life or it's a total loss.

My take on th Oline at the beginning of the season
Humphries - Could be good, can he stay healthy?
Iupati - Big concern in his ability to start more than 4 games in a row before going into the tub again.
Cole - Rookie who will make mistakes but hopeful he will improve as season goes on.
Pugh - Actually thought he could be a solid RG. I was wrong.
Smith - What the hell are you thinking, a guy who the Bengals, The Bengals! we're talking about the Bengals here, move to second string guard and you expect him to start at RT?

My issues with Wilks as HC is that they are not showing improvement but are in fact regressing. Moore is new to the AZ Republic while Kent Somers has been here covering the Cards for a long time. He just wrote that he feels the team has given up on Wilks. Bottom line for me is that Somers is the one writer that really is in tune with what is going on while Moore its clueless.

I keep waiting to see an unknown Cardinal player step up and make a spectacular play.

Or some really cool move that outsmarts, outmuscles or outspeeds the competition.

i.e. Something that tells me that Coach Wilks has got something special he can pull out of his butt.

I'm still waiting

Is 11 months on the job really rushing to judgement?

It’s a great point, Ron. I believe in continuity, and thus I almost always wants a head coach, a general manager, a player, or basically any other job description in society to get time to implement ideas, concepts and strategies. I think sustainable success is developed over time. Having said that, I don’t think any NFL team should have to go through a crisis like this. I call it a crisis because of the severity of the situation, and not because it necessarily has to take several years to recover from.

In reference to your playing level, I believe in having a solid floor. The highs can obviously go as high as they can, but your lows shouldn’t go that low. I think you need to have sort of a foundation to your playing level, so that you never fall so deep that you can’t recover in a hurry. Bruce Arians used to say that great leadership within the team should – at least in theory - prevent them from losing two in a row, and I guess that was one of his ways of creating that foundation. I am not saying Steve Wilks has destroyed the leadership on the team, but he certainly hasn’t improved it either, and he hasn’t created that foundation in other ways. To go by the metaphor I used before, there is a very long way up to that foundation after falling this low. This is the NFL, and in the NFL you don’t get much time, so maybe it is deemed that it simply takes too long before he has potentially built that foundation.

Another thing I think should determine whether Wilks should stay or go is the relations within the organization and the respect his co-workers has for him. What I mean is that if Michael Bidwill or Steve Keim (or both) don’t feel very much in sync with Wilks, he should be let go. If the players don’t have the respect and good relationship with Wilks (and no, despite what seemingly a lot of posters think, none of us know if this is the case), he should be let go. Sustained internal unrest and frictions are poison to any organization, and it can grow to something even worse. If there is no problem in either scenario, though, then I think there is at least a basis for giving it another shot.

So, I think they should start over with another head coach. I think the playing level has gotten that bad, that something seems broken to me. I don’t know what it is, but it’s a fact that it never got this ugly while the trio of Michael Bidwill, Steve Keim and Bruce Arians was in charge, so I tend to think that Steve Wilks is a part in what is broken. Again, none of us can know this for sure, but in my opinion it seems like a lost cause to try to repair the damage.

1) the worst offense on the planet in the age of offensive football...it’s offensive alright

2) a defense that can’t stop anyone. Lol

3) A coaching staff that makes ZERO adjustments

4) staring 2-14 or 3-13 in the face

Yeah let’s have patience lol
NOT!!!

This team is an **embarrassment, and the lack of efficient coaching and weak play calling is obvious. Wilks is about exciting as picking up dog yard poop. Send him out the door with a pocket of unearned cash, and a smile on his face. Same for the GM.

** Seen enough of many similar Cardinal seasons in the past since moving to PHX....

Didnt read the whole article. Don't think I have to. I don't think the team should fire Wilks right now and maybe not even at the end of the season. But they DO need to evaluate him at the end if the season. If this team can continue playing the rest of the season the way they played today then great....if they go back to the way they have been playing then he goes.

I have been waiting all season for them to turn the corner. Maybe that just happened today but this isn't the first time I have thought that.

Wilks has got to go. He coaches scared especially with leads at the end of games
this - this is the number 1 reason why you lose games, to scared to react properly.

I don't see Wilks to win a SB in the actual state of mindset as HC
