Damn. I was hoping this was just going to be a tragic accident instead of another idiot player incident.

And should be. However Leonard little got off for the same crime so we'll see. Cheers!

He didnt get off, he got a sentance that did not nearly fit the crime though thats for sure. 90 days in jail, 1000 hours community service, $15,000 fine and 4 years probation.

But here is the thing. The law in Florida is a much more strict and stringent law that that of Missuori I believe. I think the max in Missouri is only 10 years while in Florida it is 15 years. So I assume that the minimums would be worse in Flordia as well. Only heard that on the radio so It could be wrong.

Anyways a Flordia paper is saying the offical blood results came back as .12 and they have two different results to prove that so there is no way both can be thrown out in court, one maybe but the likely hood that both get thrown out is slim to none.

Well, this is bigger than football but does Cleveland now get added to the potential Anquan destinations? They traded Winslow already, don't have much in the running game and Edwards is inconsistent. Now to lose their #2 and Jeravicious unable to come back because of staph infection HQ in Cleveland.

He killed Susan Gutweiler (a wife and mother), got off ridiculously light, got a SB ring, and six years later...drove drunk again. Missouri is a joke when it comes to DUI's because even as a persistent offender he got off on the DUI and only got a speeding ticket the second time around!!

Leonard Little is likely one of the slimiest pieces of crap still on this Earth breathing air. He drove drunk and KILLED somebody and it didn't make enough of an impact on his life to NEVER drink and drive again?

Unconscionable!

Re: Stallworth. I heard about this story a couple of weeks ago. At that time the way it was reported made it seem like it was an unfortunate accident. Not so now.

Who stops drinking at midnight and is still crusing about at 7:00 in the morning? Had time to flash the lights but not time to stop??? Guilty! :thumbdown

I saw an interview with her husband, who is a sports photographer that covers the Lambs. Apparently he has an understanding that he will never photograph Little during a game. When he's on the sideline and Little comes into view he just turns a different direction.

Wow. If the husband was me, I would shoot him, but not with a camera. That is way too much constraint.

Not really with the 5th pick in the draft they could take a WR. Crabtree and Maclin should both be there when they pick.

I suppose it is possible he was so intoxicated that he went to sleep, woke up in the morning and drove without being sober. I have heard about this happening before.

That said, there is no excuse for this. It is so sad that one person's irresponsible actions can cause the death of another and the lifelong pain of that person's family and friends.

I'm amazed this isn't a big story in the media. It appears we're desensitized to criminal athletes

The liver needs an hour to an hour and a half to process one glass of alcohol. So six glasses of alcohol takes app. 6 to 9 hours to leave the system. Therefore it's very possible for him to stop drinking at midnight, fall a sleep till 7, and get in a car with the idea that he didn't drink and drive, but with alcohol still in his body, depending on the amount of drinks he's had.

Not saying that this is the case here, just explaining that it's possible.

NFL receiver Stallworth charged with DUI manslaughter

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth was charged in Florida on Wednesday with killing a pedestrian while driving under the influence, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade County state attorney's office said.

Authorities charged Stallworth, 28, with DUI manslaughter in the death of Mario Reyes, said the spokesman, Ed Griffith.

Stallworth is expected to surrender in court Thursday, Griffith said. The charge is a bondable offense, and bail is expected to be set at $200,000.

According to Griffith, Stallworth's blood-alcohol level after last month's accident was measured at 0.126 percent, higher than the state's legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Stallworth released a statement four days after the incident saying he and his family were "grief-stricken."

"My thoughts and prayers are with the Reyes family during this incredibly difficult time," he said.

The state attorney's office said Stallworth was driving a Bentley east on the MacArthur Causeway, which connects Miami, Florida, to the South Beach area of Miami Beach, around 7:15 a.m. March 14 when he struck and killed Reyes, a construction worker.

Reyes, 59, was heading to a bus stop after leaving work, CNN affiliate WSVN reported.

The affiliate said Stallworth cooperated with police, submitting to the field sobriety test and a blood test.

Stallworth, a former University of Tennessee player, has also played professionally for the New England Patriots, the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Stallworth pleads guilty, gets 30 days in jail
Curt Anderson, Ap Legal Affairs Writer
MIAMI –

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth is going to serve 30 days in jail after pleading guilty in Florida to a DUI manslaughter charge.

The plea deal announced Tuesday calls for the 28-year-old Stallworth to also serve 10 years' probation and do 1,000 community service hours for killing a pedestrian he hit with his car. Stallworth had faced up to 15 years in prison.

Police say Stallworth was drinking at a hotel bar before the March 14 crash that killed 59-year-old construction worker Mario Reyes. Tests showed Stallworth's blood-alcohol content was .126.

Stallworth also reached a confidential financial settlement with the Reyes' family. A person close to the negotiations told The Association Press about the agreement on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about the deal.

He bought himself a light sentence.

Another case of a person of status and money buys his way out of killing a man. The mans life was worth X amount of $ and he gets minimum security for 30 days. Same case but a person that is struggling money wise, is out of work, and while driving kills a man he gets 10-15 in the slammer aand a fine he can't afford. Shold that person get out of prison alive will also have X amount years of probation.

IMO it's not fair and someone should look into our justice system. MOney rules and that's a fact jack!

Florida has a weird law. Is this the same everywhere? In this case the 10 year minimum prison sentance only applies to convictions. In Florida a guilty plea doesnt equal a conviction thus the judge can impose his own judgement and the 10 year minimum no longer applies. I assume anyone in Flordia can use that loophole. Kind of a crappy loophole if you ask me.

So Stallworth gets 30 days of jail, 10 years probation, 1000 hours of community service, gave the family 5 mill to settle the lawsuit, and if he gets a one year suspension from the league which should happen yesterday he loses another 1 mill. All for killing a man while drunk. My hope is that he messes up(without killing someone again), becuases 10 years is a lot of years and opportunity to screw up while under probation.
