LMAO @ giving up Upton, Scherzer for Willis.

For Cabrera? Maybe.

For Willis? No way in hell.

Believe me FLA will not give up Willis cheap. They will want a SP and 2 prospects. Cabrera will require more than that.

To put it another way if CHI and NYY are overpricing guys like Abreu and Dye what do you think the Marlins are going to ask for Willis who maybe having a bad year, but is 26, LHSP, and under contract through next year?

No moves need to be made this year, theres not real attractive player on the market and ones that are going to take way too much to get. Keep having solid drafts make some good FA pick ups and stand pat for this year.

oscf, i'm not saying florida won't want a lot for willis.

I'm just laughing at the idea of giving up all that talent for willis.

Not worth it.

You'd have to be on LSD and hallucinating to make this trade. I wouldn't trade those prospects for Willis or even Cabrera.

Eh, Cabrera it wouldn't be that bad. Byrnes is definitely gone, and Livo is pretty much on his way and nothing real good anymore. Pena is a stud and CarGo is struggling in AA, he's hitting in the .260's. :(

I'd tried to work something out for Ramirez. That guy is an absolute stud, hits HR's, drives in runs, steals ALOT. Only problem with him is he commits a lot of errors.

Is it just insane homerism that I wouldn't trade Upton for Cabrera? Believe me I am the biggest Cabrera guy there is but i kind of feel like Upton could be Ken Griffey Jr. Plus for all of Cabreras attributes he is a bit of a head case (see fighting with teammates) and lazy (see weight gain)

Supposedly they're shopping Conor or Tracy for pitching help and are looking hard at Zack Greinke. My guess is it's Conor going out considering Tracy hasn't played in about a week.

I was just listening to Gambo as I went out for lunch, and man o man, is he ever right about ANYTHING? I've never heard such an ignorant, out of touch person in the media. He's going on and on about how Byrnes is untouchable. What a buffoon, Eric Byrnes, who's never made an All Star Game, who's never won a Gold Glove or even been considered a great defender, who's never finished a season w/ an average over 300 is untouchable? He's had a great contract year, signing him to a long term deal and blocking your all world prospects just seems insane.

If I'm the Dbacks I package some combination of Byrnes, Davannon, Jackson (or Tracy, whoever they like less) and Hairston and go shopping.

The problem is with Byrnes being FA eligible after the season the package we get in return won't be significantly better than the draft pick we'll get. Every GM will have a hard-on for prospects right now with Scott Boras itching to break the $30 million/year barrier and every mediocre pitcher getting eight figures in free agency. Not to mention the PR nightmare you'll face from both fans and within the organization for essentially giving up on the season back 1.5 games from the Wild Card. Stand pat, try packaging up marginal assets in hopes hope you catch lightning in a bottle somewhere.

Once again I am not saying the D-backs should do it but the Marlins are going to overprice him. They maintain he is not on the block and that it would take a hell of an offer to get them to deal him.

Cabrera talent wise is close to a Pujols. He is an incredible all around player and would take a hell of a deal to get him as well, I question his attitude.
