I like all 3 guys. Kalil is light but he's an elite athlete at the position. Shouldn't get past the Colts. At USC he played LT and top 10 pick Tyron Smith played RT... Martin is probably the most important Tackle in the country protecting the greatest QB prospect since Manning. Luck rarely gets touched... I wouldn't be suprised if we reached for Reiff. Whiz has a history drafting Big 10 players and most schools in that conference have very well coached offensive lines. Grimm loves huge lineman and Reiff is a monster physically. He might have to move to RT in the pros. The Rams and Jags have young franchise QB's who get sacked a lot so they could pull the trigger on a tackle before us.

Just what roll will Whiz play in who we draft? I thought that was Graves job. Whiz may not even be here. We may switch to a new offensive system or defensive system which could make drafting an OL not a primary need. That RB from Alabama is supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread or Adrian Peterson. Do you pass on him if you have the #2 or #3 pick? Skill players like a RB, QB, WR are easier to evaluate than linemen. There are a couple of QB's who are rising fast in the college passing game. Luck is not the only QB out there and unless Kolb suddenly finds out how to play QB we better figure out whether we want a QB or an OL? One QB can turn a team around. One offensive lineman cannot.

Loving Kalil right now, but I hope he is willing to change his number. I don't want him if he wears 75.

I just don't see why ARZ did not go after McKinnie & Starks. Both had issues but imagine our OL with them at the bookends instead of Brown & Keith. This is just another reason this team is going in the wrong direction: poor personnel decisions. The OL really needed to be improved but Whisenhunt felt that they could do the job with what they had. I wonder if he still feels that way?

Imagine our offense if we:
Kept Steve Breaston
Signed Bryant McKinnie
Signed Max Starks
Signed Matt Hasselback
Did not trade for Kevin Kolb

Kalil or nobody, IMO.

I dont want to get within 100 feet of Reif. a converted TE made into a LT with some reported flexibility issues? B.U.S.T and a half. guaranteed

The sanford kid is good, but i think hes helped by the fact that Luck gets rid of the ball quickly. With Kolbs never-gonna-throw-the-ball-unless-im-scrambling "style", the kid wont do much good.

Kalil is a stud. If we cant get him, we go after top pass rusher.

also, I think getting that 2nd back should be a priority. If we dont get: Luck, Kalil, Blackmon or (enter top pass rusher..possibly upshaw), we need to trade up. Odds are we are top 5, again, so im sure somebody will be wanting to make a move on somebody. our needs are pretty broad. Somebody who NEEDS a WR specifically will be more likely to deal with us.

Martin at Stanford is quite good

plays LT in a pro style offense -- and Luck takes plenty of 5 and 7 step drops where he holds the ball.

I would have not problem taking him in the top 5 --- and he is the anti-Levi Brown.

To refresh: Brown was a guy with questionable feet for a LT, but was a physical, nasty run blocker. Martin without question has the feet to play LT, but questions on how physical he is as a run blocker.

Thats fine. But when we are investing in a top 5, again (smh), we NEED a homerun. No more leinarts, Levi's, Rolles. We need a guy who does his friggin job well and lives up to his draft status, for once.

Kalil is a stud. Best of both worlds. When we are so bad that we are picking 4, we shouldnt have to give anything. If Martin is great in pass coverage, but shoddy in run support, then pass him. We can NOT afford anything less than stellar. Id rather pay out the ass for a proven vet than take a shot on an unknown again.

How in world can you guys even be talking about drafting offense with our next pick after seeing how bad our defense is?

If we don't draft defense with our first three 2012 picks, the NFL needs to take custody of our team. The talent level on the defense side of the ball is is embarrassing. Really, really embarrassing.

Our offense is way worse than our defense. Keep in mind we have 2 true rookies starting at CB. Move PP to cover #2 WR next year, this time with a year under his belt, and Toler will be back to cover the #1. Toler isnt great, but he will suffice. I fully expect we bring in another CB next year too. Prob a FA.

We have a good D line with good depth. Dock, CC, Dan, Vonnie, Carter and Eason have all made plays this year. Thats impressive. Its just Hortons crap defense that takes our talented D line out of the game.

LB is an obvious gaping hole.

But our offense is unquestionably our weak point. Our QB doesnt have enough time to throw to the WRs he doesnt have because our O line cant hold off the rush long enough. So we need:

-O Line. entirely.but specifically LT, and ive said Kalil or nobody. Keep Sendlein, but everyone else needs to be replaced.

-#2 WR. I would take Blackmon in a heartbeat if Kalil was gone.

* Beanie will 'probably' be back and Ryan Williams will be back. Dynamic duo right there. Weve got TEs now also.

For as bad as our D looks, our offense is much worse and it all stems from the oline. everything. We need to draft via BPA. If Luck, Kalil or Blackmon or taken, we should trade down to get more picks. Those 3 are elite and everyone else is a step below.

No argument but there are no dominant defensive players in the top ten boards so far. We shouldn't reach but perhaps trade down. Its early and could change but so far the best players are QB,s Wrs, and OTs.

No just no. PP is the #1 corner next year. Toler has nowhere near the speed or athleticism to cover #1 wideouts. He is a physical slot guy.

You're right. I've looked at some of the draft lists and nobody really jumps out on Defense. But the team is so bad right now on both sides of the ball they can go either way next April.

Sadly I think next season is going to be a second straight year of if and hope. If Ryan Williams comes back 100%, If Acho and Schofield develop a pass rush from the outside, we hope hope Peterson and Toler can be a solid combination at CB, we hope Kolb's struggles are mainly because he needs more time in the system. We hope the Cards can find a replacement for Lenon, we pray the Cards can find a LT, if Wilson has one more season left in him.....

At least its better than 2000-2003 when we could look at the roster and know we had no hope. No ifs about it.

.

I think its time to accept the fact that the O'Brien Schofield experiment is over. It was a failure. The guy just doesnt 'get it'.

Acho will grow to be a solid role player, but he is not going to be a star. But I never expected him to be. Guy is extremely intelligent but sometimes you just need raw physical ability. Hes al ittle undersized and just not fast enough or powerful enough to blow by blockers like Ware does. But again, he will be an upgrade over what we have now.

D. Washington is about the brightest thing we have on this team going forward. I see him just being that career, productive go-to guy. Hes no Patrick Willis, but he will be a cornerstone of this D for a very long time.

Paris, Clark and Joey are ready to head up to boot hill. Lets put this horse out of its misery already.

I say in the draft we go like this:

rnd.
1. Luck, Kalil or Blackmon. If they arent available we trade down, no question.

2. none, assuming we get one of those 3 and dont pick up a 2nd. Otherwise: LB

3. WR

4: CB's (this includes a guy that might be Adubs replacement).
5: CB
6: CB
7: Oline (guard, RT, etc.) this is assuming we got Kalil.

I take so many CBs because they wash out alot. They are a knickle a dozen and we need a heap on order to find the gems. We need a COMPLETE overhaul of this DB core. Safeties, CBs. PP and Toler can stay (although, I wouldnt mind seeing an upgrade over Toler. hes no superstar). Jefferson can be a #4. But we need true, blue talent in our secondary, for once.

And id like to see a committed, balls out drive by this ownership in FA. Go get guys. I hate relying on unproven draft picks. If Cameron Wake were available, you spend the money to go get him. No question. Thats what teams do. Thats what the Dolphins did when they took Dansby away. We need to be that team who goes and takes talent. Thats the only way we can ever get out of this perpetual cycle of BS this organization has turned into.

Really? Giving up on OBScho already? Man you guys are dramatic...
Very true. The coaching staff just isn't putting him in a position to succeed. He's a pass rusher, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out how to spin, or bull-rush. Once the Cards get a new coaching staff who knows what they're doing, and obviously Haggans/Porter would be gone once Whiz is axed, Schofield will have his opportunity to get on the field in a more significant role. Whisenhunt is literally clueless when it comes to developing young players, another reason why he needs to go...

Whos you guys? My names not Legion, im only 1 dude. and its not dramatic its realist. asuprodigy is right that maybe itll be different with a new coaching staff, but thats a 'what if' scenario. As things stand right now, coaching staff as is, forseeable future as is, OBS isnt going to break out while here.

He tore his ACL not even two years ago and has never been through a full TC/OTA yet. Next year Porter won't be back. Schofield will start and then we can see what he brings.

On Topic: Kalil was a beast tonight, he will be the 2nd player taken after Luck. Martin also had a good night, from what I saw he didn't allow any sacks and was decent in the run game. Luck is everything as advertised, aside from his pick six, he played a very good game, and brought his team back for the win in a tough environment. Was thinking the entire time I watched the USC/Stanford game, if Kolb was the QB for Stanford, they would've lost by 2 TD's. Luck could come into the league today and be a top 10 QB, he's that good.

Luck was unreal after that pick. That's what you want from your QB after he makes a mistake. He put the team on his back from that point and scored a TD on the last 4 drives including overtime.

Kalil is the best tackle in the draft but he still needs to add 15 pounds before he enters the league. Martin was so-so, he did allow a couple hurries but was banged up apparently.

Since we won't get Luck my draft board is...
1. Kalil
2. Blackmon
-everyone else

This draft sucks!

Teams 'worse than us', although I personally believe we are the worst in the NFL. and so these potentially will be ahead of us.

Colts - Took Anthony Castonzo last year, wouldnt take Kalil. My guess: Luck

Dolphins - Jake Long, nuff said. Who knows what they take. Luck if they get #1

Rams - Took a LT (now RT) #2 overall in 09. Their current LT, Safford is very good. No LT drafted. My guess: Justin Blackmon

Vikings - LT is charlie Johnson. Who? exactly. We need to hope the Vikings steal a few games. In a tie, we would get the pick because they beat us. Vikings would take Kalil. Lets hope that doesnt happen.

So, thats the run down. Safe to say Luck and Blackmon WILL be gone. 3 of those 4 teams will not take Kalil, virtually guaranteed. They cant.

So, this season is now a race between us and the Vikings. Good thing is that Adrian Peterson is a monster and im confident he will take a game by himself.

So, :) happy faces on guys, by my Pulitzer Prize worthy math above, we actually have a VERY good shot at Kalil.

We have a pretty easy remaining schedule after the Baltimore game. I expect 2-3 more wins to get to 4-12. That's good for a top 5 pick but neither STL, INDY or MIA will win more. My guess is...

1. Miami - Luck
2. Indy - Blackmon
3. St Louis - Jeffrey
4. AZ - Kalil

Colts could go Kalil and it wouldn't shock me. Constanzo to RT solidifying their tackle situation until Peyton retires. If they don't bring back Reggie Wayne we can probably expect them to go Justin Blackmon and a tackle in the 2nd round. We need a top 4 pick...

First off, I agree about Schofield. If he can't get Joey Porter off the field, I have some major concerns about the guy. Other than a couple plays last year, he really hasn't shown anything. People liked Will Davis, myself included, because he actually showed some explosion early in his career but I think that turned out to be more of how bad our other OLB's are and not how good he looked.

As for the draft, I would be happy with Kalil or Martin but I had the misfortune of watching alot of the Iowa-Minnesota game and Reiff is, meh. It's only 1 game but he did nothing that stands out or anything to merit a top 10 draft pick.
