In a tie, we would get the pick because they beat us. Vikings would take Kalil. Lets hope that doesnt happen.

This is wrong but you are not the only person who believes it. I hear it from radio talk show hosts here in Austin all the time.

Head to head does not matter when it comes to draft order. Strength of schedule is what the NFL uses to break ties. Weaker schedule drafts earlier.

I don't care who has the #1 pick, they won't pass on Luck and that includes Carolina and GB. They may trade it, but Andrew Luck, unless his right arm gets severed off, is going to be the #1 pick.

Very true. The coaching staff just isn't putting him in a position to succeed. He's a pass rusher, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out how to spin, or bull-rush. Once the Cards get a new coaching staff who knows what they're doing, and obviously Haggans/Porter would be gone once Whiz is axed, Schofield will have his opportunity to get on the field in a more significant role. Whisenhunt is literally clueless when it comes to developing young players, another reason why he needs to go...

Exactly. When was the last time you saw a Cardinal outside pass rusher do much of anything other than run right into the OT or other blocker? They almost never use any other moves. It's like they think they're Nose Tackles and are supposed to tie up blockers. Very frustrating to watch especially since our guys aren't exactly the biggest 3-4 OLBs in the league. Complicated defesive scheme? Our opponents don't seem to have much trouble figuring it out.

I think its time to accept the fact that the O'Brien Schofield experiment is over. It was a failure. The guy just doesnt 'get it'.

Acho will grow to be a solid role player, but he is not going to be a star. But I never expected him to be.
Guy is extremely intelligent but sometimes you just need raw physical ability. Hes al ittle undersized and just not fast enough or powerful enough to blow by blockers like Ware does. But again, he will be an upgrade over what we have now.

D. Washington is about the brightest thing we have on this team going forward. I see him just being that career, productive go-to guy. Hes no Patrick Willis, but he will be a cornerstone of this D for a very long time.

Paris, Clark and Joey are ready to head up to boot hill. Lets put this horse out of its misery already.
I say in the draft we go like this:

rnd.
1. Luck, Kalil or Blackmon. If they arent available we trade down, no question.

2. none, assuming we get one of those 3 and dont pick up a 2nd. Otherwise: LB

3. WR

4: CB's (this includes a guy that might be Adubs replacement).
5: CB
6: CB
7: Oline (guard, RT, etc.) this is assuming we got Kalil.

I take so many CBs because they wash out alot. They are a knickle a dozen and we need a heap on order to find the gems. We need a COMPLETE overhaul of this DB core. Safeties, CBs. PP and Toler can stay (although, I wouldnt mind seeing an upgrade over Toler. hes no superstar). Jefferson can be a #4. But we need true, blue talent in our secondary, for once.

And id like to see a committed, balls out drive by this ownership in FA. Go get guys. I hate relying on unproven draft picks. If Cameron Wake were available, you spend the money to go get him. No question. Thats what teams do. Thats what the Dolphins did when they took Dansby away. We need to be that team who goes and takes talent. Thats the only way we can ever get out of this perpetual cycle of BS this organization has turned into.

I don't want to argue, and you're probably right about the draft being light on top defensive players. But the bolded parts above illustrate what Im talking about.

We have gaping holes on defense, and it's the weakest part of our team. We need playmakers on D, and they're hard to find (or at least too expensive)in FA.

But we'll see. I'm sure our braintrust of kenny and graves will come up with a winner of a pick in the first round of the 2012 draft.

On Topic: Kalil was a beast tonight, he will be the 2nd player taken after Luck. Martin also had a good night, from what I saw he didn't allow any sacks and was decent in the run game. Luck is everything as advertised, aside from his pick six, he played a very good game, and brought his team back for the win in a tough environment. Was thinking the entire time I watched the USC/Stanford game, if Kolb was the QB for Stanford, they would've lost by 2 TD's. Luck could come into the league today and be a top 10 QB, he's that good.

Khalil looked very fundamental.

Martin struggled with speed rushes. If he can't stop the speed rush in college, we will be in the same position we are now against NFL DE's.

Martin would be off my draft board in rd 1 at LT.

Changes nothing. We have the weaker schedule (weakest in the NFL in fact).

The more I think about it, we are virtually guaranteed Kalil. Im stoked if thats true. Guy draws comparisons to Jake Long. Not quite on his level yet, but certainly the best LT to come out since.

You are right it changes nothing, including the fact that you were misinformed.

We do have a very weak schedule. Which makes this season even more of a total failure.

Thank you CKW and Matt Leinart for the disaster of the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
