Draft picks 2007:
Atlanta's (top 3 protected)-->presently #5
Cleveland's (top 10 protected)-->presently #21
Phoenix -->1stR presently #29
2nd round-->presently #59

If we were to have these picks at the end of the year this would be my draft:

#5 - Tyler Hansborough (sp??)
#21 - Nick Fazeckas
#29 - Marcus Williams
#59 - Chris Lofton

Frontcourt help with Hansborough & Fazeckas ( who can also shoot), outside side w/ Marcus and an all around PG in Chris Lofton from Tennessee.

No way the Suns draft and keep 4 rookies.

My prediction, and only because it's supposed to be such a deep draft, the Suns use #5 and #21 and sell the other 2 picks.

Michael Finley was #21.

David Griffin has scouted Al Thornton in person at least twice this year. I know, because I have friends in the FSU SID. San Antonio has also been there to take a look at him.

They were both there when FSU played Florida and Thornton embarassed Joakim Noah.

The comparisons to Marion are sort of flimsy. They are both very quick leapers who get after the offensive boards. Marion is still a better athlete. Thornton is stronger, but not nearly as polished on the perimeter -- on offense or defense. Marion's just an athletic freak. I haven't seen anyone like him in years.

Well you have to figure Burke, Jumaine Jones, Erick Piatkowski, Jalen Rose and Sean Marks will not be with the team next year leaving 5 roster spots right there. Whose to say they won't trade a couple for another player but why not add depth from a pretty good draft this year. Hansbrough will eventually replace KT, Fazeckas will be great off the bench or if we have to eventaully trade Marion, and securing a back up PG would really make for a great draft. I would atleast like for them to keep 3 draft picks, look at how Dallas rebuilt through the draft after losing Nash and Finley.

There is zero chance Hansborough goes that high. Nor should he.

Never say never, Marion was not suppose to go at 9 and no one thought Amare would crack the top 15. The guy is extremely talented and with a great tournament and workouts he may work his way into the top 10.

Amare and Marion are athletes. Hansborough is shorter than 6'8 and not the athlete those guys are. He is a very good college player, but i don't think he has the physical gifts to be anything mroe than another big body in the NBA. So yes, Tyler Hansborough will never be a top 5 pick.

I guess I feel his game is what we need to take the next step, he is a low post player unlike most college "bigs" these days. Hansbrough more than likely will not be a top 10 pick but I couldn't think of anyone else coming out that plays his style of basketball. I guess the next thing to him is Al Horford, so let me suggest Al Horford at 5 instead.

My concern is that if the Hawks fade and have no chance at the All Star break that they'll tank the remainder of the season and get a top 3.

In that case, our only hope is for someone to leapfrog them in the lottery and we get #4 pick overall!;)

I want Al Horford....this guy is going to be a force. I think he could play C for us, he runs well, passes well, can hit a jumper and plays great D.

I think Noah could be there at 5. I think he will be over analyzed throughout the season and during the draft process, losing ground to prospects with higher ceiling.

As for Hansbrough, I was saying that I think he will measure shorter than his listed height when he does declare for the draft.

That may happen but I think that Noah is too tall, athletic and talented and has a too big heart to fall from the top5.

The top 5 will probably go like this

1. Greg Oden
2. Kevin Durant
3. Brenden Wright
4. Joakim Noah
5. Julian Wright/Al Horford (depending if Suns are here)

what? sorry this is flat out wrong. Many people thought Amare would go at worst 10 to Miami maybe to the clippers. Portland was trying to trade up to get him.

Everyone on this board and their mother knew Amare was the guy at #9, well except some misguided Skita fans or Nene fans.

I wouldn't be suprised if the Suns moved these picks. D'Antoni's 8 man rotation really doesn't leave room for anyone else.

No, most people thought Jared Jefferies would be the pick. Many analysts and people on this board were shocked when we didn't select Jefferies. If teams were trying to trade up and wanted him so bad then it's hard to imagine someone ahead of the Sun's wanting too much for their pick and unwilling to trade down.

I think most of us were expecting Amare because he worked out twice and went to Diamondback games with JC or something. There was definitely talk of Portland trying to move ahead to get Amare, but other teams didn't want to pass on studs like Tskits.

No you are wrong. David Aldridge blamed us for taking Amare with Jared Jeffries on the board.

Almost EVERY fan on this board knew Amare would be the guy. We had a mockdraft poll that year and the board predicted both Suns picks right, Amare and Jacobsen.

Nobody on this board was shocked we didnt pick Jeffries.

We worked out Amare twice, we had him on the radio doing an interview, he went to a Diamondbacks game with Colangelo during his stay in Phoenix. It was blatantly obvious the Suns wanted him badly. Thank God Chad Ford for some reason kept spreading rumors that we badly wanted Skita because D'Antoni coached him.

Portland wanted to trade up to get Amare, but the Clippers were set on Wilcox and didn't agree to any deal. Phoenix tried to trade up with Denver and other teams to stop Portland from getting ahead of them. Sorry but those are FACTS.

Yes. After being a lottery pick in mocks for months Amare started to slip some weeks before the draft.

Even then he was projected to pick at #18 by ORL at worst. Later come reports that the Suns still love him and POR would like to trade up for Amare.
