Loston is the safety I want and would be perfectly fine with the Cards drafting him in round 2, LSU knows secondary :)

I also think the best fit at safety, when you factor in draft position and ability, is Loston. He can be had in round 3, possibly even round 4, and could come in and contribute from day 1.

At CB, my favorite is Fuller. Roby's off field issues(very strange case) may make him available in round 2.

There's something not being told about Roby's deal. He was asleep behind the wheel in his car in a parking lot, motor not running. The police say they smelled alcohol and that he failed a field sobriety test, blew only a .008 on the breathalyzer(basically nothing), and his car was searched for drugs with nothing found, yet was charged with OVI. He ended up pleading guilty to some lesser charge I've never heard of, physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence.

My sleeper in the second round is Marcus Smith (OLB/DE) Louisville. More stout than Dee Ford and (IMO) just as good a pass rusher.

Marcus Smith is compared a lot to/like Matt Shaughnessey. He wouldn't see the field for a year, mtl.

Give me a RT, SS or TE there.

sorry i watched all his tapes on you tube and they dont have nothing in common.

m,smith has much more quickness,is faster,he can outrun tackle.
he is a complete player.

Explain to me the difference between a Larry Fitzgerald TD and a Juron Brown TD

The difference is Brown is far more likely to run the wrong route, get jammed at the line, or drop the TD pass.

The difference between a Fitz TD and a Jaron Brown TD is that they are far more likely and frequent. Like 14 times more likely.

I think Bryan McCann will make the roster. Whitley, because of his speed and versatility, has a chance.

I think one of those tall CBs---McGill, SJB or Desir---could make a good deal of sense in round 3. Like you said, they could be used to cover TEs.

Rashad Johnson is, imo, better than he gets credit for. So, we'll see. He seems to get a little stronger and a little more sudden each year.

I could see SK trading down and taking Bucannon---but, it's hard to say because SK is going to draft BPA, not for need.

Guess, for once, I predicted a Cardinals' draft trade.

When I watched the tapes of Pryor, Clinton-Dix and Bucannon, what became plain to me was that Pryor was a little small for the box and covering TEs, is a big hitter, but as i said before he's like A-Dub he hits and at times does not wrap up. Clinton-Dix is a deep FS safety who has length but he's not very tough (so that didn't seem to fit the Cardinals' need) and Bucannon seemed to have everything the Cardinals were looking for---size, speed (4.48), toughness (best tackling safety in the draft) and, best of all, the ability to cover TEs.

It sure felt good for the past three weeks to, to be watching Path to The Draft every night and seeing Curtis Conway claim night after night that Deone Bucannon is the best safety in the draft.

I think that because Bucannon played at Washington St. and not Louisville or Alabama that many of the pundits were reluctant to rank him above the other two. But when you watch the tape, Bucannon is a special talent...and while Pryor and Clintion -Dix are very good talents, for what the Cardinals need, Bucannon is the best talent.

Plus, Keim brokered an extra third round pick. Yes!

Mitch, congrats. I like the pick but a part of me was hoping we'd take Johnny M. for the excitement, if nothing else. Thought we'd end up with Bucannon, but in the second round.

Starters:
This draft is deep at CB. Not as much at SS, particularly if you want a SS who can cover TEs. Deone Bucannon looks like the best fit (size, speed and cover-wise)---but will he be available at #52?

Really nice call Mitch-----

The Cardinals are in a win now mode---the SS position was the #1 need---especially because we couldn't cover a TE when we needed to most.

I too was enamored with WR Brandin Cooks, QB Johnny Manziel and OLB Dee Ford and thus was disappointed to see them go off the board...but, you know what, Garth? All three of those players are gambles and none of them would have started for the Cardinals this year. Deone Bucannon should step right in a start at SS from day one. BA&SK wanted a starter and they were able to draft the SS they wanted and pick up an extra 3rd rounder in the process. Win-Win!

Well done Mitch calling the trade down and the pick. I think Seattle has driven up the value of physical secondary guys. Way cheaper to draft one and ride the value contract for four+ years.

So on board. Nice Call.

I think we are going to love Bucannon, AF. Adding Cro and now Deone...our secondary just got impressively big!

Plus, AF, we are going to get a real good player at #91 (from the Saints).

And...get this...could you imagine if Bucannon got through to the 49ers? That would have given them a huge tandem in Eric Reid and Bucannon. The fact that the 49ers took S Jimmy Ward three picks later just shows how much they were focusing on the safety position. Ward is a real nice player...but he's 5-10 and built like a CB.

I see us going OLB, OL, and QB next 3 rounds and these are guys that would have been late 1st mid 2nd last year. Another starter or 2 coming still IMO.

Im happy. Safety play was a big gap for us and this is kid is 3 time captain, ridiculous combo of big and fast, super productive around the ball, and most importantly a film nut.

I wouldnt mind a Van Noy/Ealy pick tomorrow in the 2nd then maybe Jace Amaro and Mettenberger in 3rd?

Very nice Mitch!

Thanks NM. When BA&SK talked about getting bigger at SS in order to cover TEs, it sure looked like Deone Bucannon was a real good fit. The problem for BA&SK with Bucannon was they weren't going to be able to draft him at #52, so they were able to add a 3rd rounder in this deep draft and take Bucannon. This is a real win for the Cardinals in addressing what is their most glaring need on defense.

Good call Mitch but as you stated, it was a total need pick. Hope it works out.
