Except he drafted for need, not BPA..

Steve Keim, when asked this question last night said "both": best player of need and BPA. After Keim explained how Bucannon stood out from all the prospects they brought in for visits and how he and Bucannon formed a meaningful rapport---Keim was convinced Bucannon was his guy.

I strongly believe Chris that if Steve Keim has invited us for a film study and then out to dinner with Deone Bucannon that we would have felt the same way Keim did. So much of this process is about not only recognizing talent but getting a good sense of a player's passion and will to excel. Steve Keim sensed the same from A-Dub years ago. It was more than just talent---it was passion and character. One of my all-time proudest moments as a Cardinals' fan was watching A-Dub well up with tears of joy after winning the NFC Championship. Deone Bucannon---did you see how emotional he was that the Cardinals selected him? Says a lot. Just like Honey Badger last year and LaRod Stephens-Howling when he got picked. These are the kinds of players Keim and BA want and one of the main reasons why the culture has truly changed in Arizona.

I agree 100% Mitch.

Also I was listening Pat Kirwan on Sirius NFL radio driving home from lunch today. Kirwan was talking about Bucannon going to the Cardinals late in round 1 and Ward to the 49ers screwing over a bunch of teams who went WR instead of Safety. Now that 4 safeties have gone off the board there isn't much left at the position yet there still is a ton of talent left at WR. Safety is one of the few positions that has already dried up. The Cards were smart not moving back anymore or thier guy most likely would have been gone IMO.

Yeah I read that he claims he would have picked him at 20. What else is he going to say "Well no we screwed that up" :)

Still he likely would have. Hopefully I am wrong. He is a Cardinal now so I would much rather be wrong than right.
