LOL Talk about a bias--ONLY look at his W-L record, or you're a hater!

The Cards D is 7-3 while CARRYING Drew Stanton when he starts games.

Which is fine, because backup QBs by and large stink. It's when they get placed on pedestals without having earned it is when others tend to speak up.

Would you prefer Carolina's back up?

Bah. He's mediocre. He is not the QBOTF, but when he does play he manages to actually do ok. He owns the 49ers. :)

People just look at the bottom line, unless you have a bias that makes you want to dig deeper to rip on him.

Drew Stanton is 7-3 as a starter.

ANY team would take that from their backup, without question.

He played just fine yesterday. Yes, he's not a Brady or Rodgers. Now, let's see what happens against Seattle. If he throws for 43 yards and we still win, I will be happy.

After Thursday, he will be 7-4 as a starter.
BA will leave him in way to long (because he is a 'BA guy') and he will end up 7-7 (at best as a starter). And then if you look at only the last 2 years, you will see a truly horrendous record.

Drew Stanton was kept as a backup for all these years because he allows your team to win a couple of games if your starter gets dinged and misses some games. He also is like another QB coach that helps Palmer prepare for games and can help develop the 3rd QB on the roster.

The hole in this plan is if your starter goes down for an extended amount of time. At that point it would be better to have the young buck who was waiting in the wings take the reigns and see what he can do. Thing is the odds of that young buck helping you win a SB are almost zero.

All or nothing mentality is what this team has been about the past couple of years and due to injuries and more they have been closer to nothing.

It will be interesting to see how Keim navigates these turbulent waters over the next couple of years. Can we bounce back in the next year or two or will the rebuild/retool take longer.

The toothless Niner defense and the success the Cardinal running game had is what allowed Stanton to make a few plays. If the Cardinals got to play the Niners every week they would go undefeated.

Heh, i'm thinking more like 10-6!

Add in the fact that the Hawks need this game to keep pace with the Rams and they lost Sunday which will make for some tough sledding Thursday for the Cardinals.

Off topic but... while i also expect it to be tough sledding for the Cardinals, over my decades of watching the NFL i have found that talent, coaching, injuries, and the bounce of an oblong ball account for about 99% of a team's performance, while motivation or lack thereof, i.e. "needing it more", "wanting revenge", "wanting to win one for so-and-so", "having nothing to play for", etc. has almost no influence on the outcome of NFL games. As often as not, right when you think the team that "needs it more" has an edge, they lose, and the team that has "nothing to play for" wins. For a long time it surprised me, but now i almost expect it.

It seems to me that the vast majority of NFL players really are professionals who bring their best to every game, and motivation counts for much less than i once believed and most people seem to still expect.

There is a reason the Niners are winless and it starts with their QB situation and injuries that go even beyond the Cardinals injuries. Don't expect Peterson to run against the Hawks like he did against the Niners. Add in the fact that the Hawks need this game to keep pace with the Rams and they lost Sunday which will make for some tough sledding Thursday for the Cardinals.
