We should go read those game threads where Houston...Minnesota and New York were handing us our azz with Bridges as our only star on the floor. It's not good to say the least.

How do we know they won't be great picks?
How do we know they will? These are every other picks and the Suns would have to be one of the worst teams in the league over the next 3 seasons or so for those pick to reach lottery status. The Suns will still have every other pick during those years.

Cam J is completely replaceable. This was really about Bridges value and those picks won't have much value if the Suns have a decent record.

I mentioned four 1st round picks, Cam Johnson and expiring contracts was the limit.

I know but this trade was about Bridges for the Nets. Cam J was bound to get traded anyway because I kept saying the Suns are in a tough spot to pay him because of the luxury tax and not being a true PF. The Nets didn't value Cam J like Suns fans. Unless the Suns completely tank those are not going to be great picks.

Come on man.

There was no Booker on those teams with Hornacek - just watch what Mikal is going to do as a main cog on the Nets going forward, and Hornacek was in no way comparable to Mikal defensively.
Man, I am a big fan of Mikal, but as a main cog in our offense this year he has been averaging 17 per game. I get that people love Mikal and Cam (I do too), but we are talking about 3.5 years of KEVIN F'ING DURANT. You have to give up things that you like to even get a season of someone at that caliber, let alone 3.5 years of control. Even a 38 year old Durant is likely to be a very good player averaging an efficient 25+ PPG.

Boggles my mind that people are complaining about us possibly sucking in 2029? Lmao.

Forget how depressed and jaded you have to be for that to be your concern, you think a team w prime book and DA and cap space won’t sign free agents or make moves between now and then? They could sign SGA or someone else elite in a few years. Who knows.

But for now we have DURANT and the best lineup in the league.
I honestly think people are so used to constantly looking at the future with this team that they can't see something great right in front of them in the here and now. Durant is still a top 5 player in the league and will likely still be a very good player for the rest of his deal as well.

Then Bridges, a couple of draft picks and expiring contracts should have been enough.

I never plan on best case scenario. I hope it happens because Suns fans deserve it.

According to who though? The market dictates that. Crowder just got traded for 5 freaking 2nd round picks?!!? The market is crazy. If you are not willing to play you can't win. That looks liks the Suns could have gotten that from the Bucks but then you don't have KD. It's really complex to look at any of these pieces individually.

My point had nothing to do with them. It was that for what we gave up, we should have gotten a superstar who could nearly alone lead a team into the finals, and if surrounded by Westbrook and Hardin, win.

But I've said my piece. Mark me down as this is not just a bad move, it's a terrible move esp when all those missing draft picks aren't there.
The type of player you are talking about doesn't get here in a trade for anything less than Booker and Mikal and picks. We got a guy that can be the best player on a title winning team and we have the players around him that can bring it home.

Is it a gamble?

Yes

But have we already seen the limits the Suns can reach with Mikal and Cam on the team? And have other teams gotten much better since we reached those limits?

Yes and Yes

Will this trade attract quality free agents who'd take less to play with the best and have a shot at a ring?

Yes

Does anybody really give AF about very late first round draft picks in today's NBA?

Nope

And Mikal's last performance has a defender allowed Cam Thomas to score over 40 for the 3rd game in a row. This season, Mikal's defense has been a bit overrated by this board.
Bingo. Mikal’s role on this team is defense and He can’t contain any perimeter player of substance. We have three scorers and an elite facilitator. After Book returned and Cam dropped 40 on him, he became expendable. Emotions don’t win championships

I’m glad we got TJ Warren for depth. Even though he misses two weeks when he stubs his toe, he’s a scorer off the bench and has a tremendous first name.

No. He was not on the level of Booker, he was a 20 point scorer, not 27.

We are talking about Mikal who averages 17 and Hornacek who averaged 20. 7 > 3
Kevin Johnson was a FOUR TIME ALL-NBA PG who was one of four players EVER to average over 20 ppg and 10 assists by the time Barkley got here.

To merely say KJ wasn’t at Book’s level because KJ averaged 20 ppg v. Book’s 27 is just a criminal misunderstanding of who KJ was.

Supposedly today it was reported we were in a three team trade for John Collins, when Ishbia asked if we could get Durant. Also, supposedly the Suns were the only team the Nets worked with to trade KD.
