It's a general rule that boutique stocks are overvalued, because retail investors bid up the price without knowing what they're doing.

This cannot be a serious inquiry. Durant's poor judgment and utter lack of self-awareness are in blatant display on a regular basis.
Being overly and unnecessarily involved with fans on X doesn't make him an idiot when it comes to everything else.

Any other examples of poor judgement outside of his engagement with internet trolls?

Is he still doing that?

Here's his company that is aligned with this deal. Looks like they have some good standing and I would guess this is a strategic partnership type thing for both his company & PSG.

Definitely not nearly enough information to pass judgement on

IMO, of the wealthy european clubs, they are probably the worst managed.
I am a Manchester United fan. I would argue that Manchester United is the WORST managed European club, rich or not, right now. ;)

They've undoubtedly had a massive fall off, but it's also in comparison to where they'd been for 20 years. They also don't spend like PSG does, and the EPL is immeasurably better and more competitive than Ligue 1.

Anyway... sorry for helping get this thread side tracked.

I have a stronger opinion on European soccer than I do what Durant invests in. I'm more concerned that he wars with internet trolls at 4am, right after winning gold, than Paris having taken a shine on him.

Why are you concerned at all? Seems to be just looking for something to be negative about.

Who cares that he engages with fans? He's still close to the greatest scorer in NBA history, regardless of who he is tweeting with at 4am or what ultra-rich soccer club he invests in. Suns fans die on such dumb hills.

The hope is the quote from Mat Ishbia, see below, still applies.

BY KELLAN OLSON Suns reporter, ArizonaSports.com editor:

“Last year didn’t even count,” he said. “So, the next two years we are going to be in the second apron and we are going to be very expensive. Luxury tax is going to be high this year, it’s going to be high again next year. And we’re going to compete and we’re going to see how we do.

“And then the third year we have to try to get out of it. That would probably be the best and most intelligent decision because that would make it so our picks are not frozen and not pushed to the back of the draft.”

True. The rules rachet up the longer you are in it. It will be like the economy, how to exit the inflation of the player's salary and have a "soft landing" without wrecking the team will take a nimble GM and salary cap expertise.

I think we can safely assume that the plan is for Devin Booker to stay put. He is under contract through 2027-28.

My initial thought is if Beal opts into the final year of his contract, it might wreck the plan.

Of course, the salary cap could change.

Lots of money should come into the NBA when the league expands.

Here is the video from Shams Charania. I wish it was a one-year extension instead of two, but it sounds like the goal for both parties is the latter.

Mat Ishbia expects to sign Kevin Durant to an extension, per ESPN and wants him to finish his career as a Sun.

This is nothing new, but the drum beat remains the same.

Shams Charania, ESPN Nov 20, 2024, 12:27 AM ET:

As everyone in Phoenix hones in on a third consecutive postseason together, Ishbia told ESPN this week that he fully expects to sign Durant to a contract extension next offseason and wants the 14-time All-Star to retire as a Sun.

"[Durant] loves being in Phoenix, we love having him," Ishbia told ESPN. "He's off to an amazing start this season -- one of the MVP leaders -- and we're off to a very good start. We expect Kevin to sign an extension, be with us for the long term. We hope he finishes his career here in Phoenix.

"You can't sign a two-year extension this last summer, you can't do it based on the NBA rules. So we figured after the season we'll talk about it, take care of it.

"Kevin wants to be here, we want Kevin here. There's never been one grumbling of anything different."

Gambo has been saying this since the end of last season this was coming. He has been saying repeatedly that both sides are interested in an extension. Sounds like this experiment has at least 2 years left on it after this year. Although, I wouldn't rule out the possibility, this could be to ensure one last big contract that could be traded later. I look to see if KD gets a no trade clause (which I doubt).

This is nothing new. However, I find it interesting Mat Ishbia keeps endorsing the Suns future to an often injured and aging star.

If there is a no trade clause, it gives Ishbia options. I am going to raise a huge eyebrow if he gets one.

If he gets one, it’s almost as dumb as the Clippers committing to Kawhi. Arguably just as much.
