there are questions to be asked of the FO in the wake of this news. Could they really not have seen this coming at all? That 10 million dollar bonus they gave Washington...did it have any extra strings attached knowing this could be coming down the pike?

Man, you're really drawing straws with this post. Me disagreeing is a far cry from calling people idiots.

I know you're really emotional right now (as usual) but I'm not the one you should target.

haha...really emotional. not really. this sucks, but it's just football. Beyond that, I still think we're going to be good.

And if you just disagreed with people, that would be one thing. but that isn't what happens in multiple threads on multiple topics. ain't your style (in reality, it's neither of ours, but I can at least admit that).

but i'll leave this alone...no reason to get in another pissing match with you (which I started by calling you out). no one needs to read that today.

This is excessive no matter how you slice it. Dude got less punishment in the court of law. If this is how goodell wants to react then irsay better get a lifetime ban.

I'd give Irsay a lifetime ban irrespective of the treatment of Washington but I don't see why this act should change how Goodell deals with an owner. If the recently reported/suggested facts are true, DW's year long suspension is a no brainer and it's consistent with the penalties imposed by the league since Goodell took over. As a DW fan I clung to the hope that he was more innocent than guilty despite the plea but that does not appear to be the case. He appears to be a man with a HUGE problem. So sad.

This too.

Can we drop all the moral propaganda? We are all football fans. This devastates our football team. I can be absolutely depressed and outraged around the unprecedented and unfair nature of this punishment and not be someone who condones Domestic Violence or is okay with it.

I am looking forward to what appeal process is. My guess is one way or another he is playing this season, if only as they go through the appeal process. This judgement is WAY too harsh and Aldon Smith, Rice, Jim Irsay and others ALL better get the book thrown at them.

What a absolute crock of ****. The reason TJ was so sure this wasnt going to happen Cheese is because this absolutely a) ludicrious b) unprecedented c) and (IMO) will be appealed and lessened. This was the worst case scenario and I dont know anyone intelligent discussing this topic who though this would be the outcome. Just because it actually was doesnt make those people smart all of a sudden. Its flat out excessive and wrong and the punitive nature of Goddell "taking back the league" is an all time farce.

Now I hope the NFL and its hypocrite ass is levied a HUGE payout on this pain medication lawsuit and people decry the lack of punishment on Irsay. I wonder if there is a connection that Irsay is Goodells boss and Dwash an employee? No wait I dont wonder that at all.

You can only stand on the moral ground absolutely Commish. You cant pick and choose.

Consistency?

I seem to recall that Stallworth /DUI - vehicular homicide/ got a 1 year suspension.

I didn't think he'd get a full season, but I was gonna be shocked if he only got a couple games like a lot of people were saying. Doesn't make me smart or anyone who thought the other way stupid.

Smart and Stupid are the wrong words. Yes I agree with you I thought this would be 1-2 maybe 4 6 absolute max. The reason you and I thought that? Because thats what all prior history and results have shown us would be a likley outcome even hedging for Goodell throwing the book at him to make a point. Thats what rational people do. They look at past oiutcomes (which are many) and make an educated guess on what will happen. Its called past precedent. And this wasnt unprecedented either like Ray Rice. THAT would have made sense if he was gone for the year because of the video and play that got. Sad to say but anyone nationally even know this was going on? I cant imagine there was immense pressure to tie and quarter Dwash so then you just look at the infraction and its like #10 (sadly) in terms of severity of issues we have seen since beginning of 2013 season, this punishment makes no sense.

So the people who were like "yeah a year im worried about a year" are like the blind squirrill who finds a nut. There was no reason to think that was the case and NO ONE associated with the NFL in terms of reporting, analyzing, or employed speculated this. It was just seemingly wild conjecture at that point and the fact that its gotten to this point just shows how wildly stupid the whole punishment is. So again because the extreme and unlikely outcome ended up being the result, doesnt mean those people know what they are talking about.

Chicken little is going to be right one of these days about the sky falling too.

this was all before Goodell. I have no problem with him throwing the book at these idiots. Little should have been suspended for at least a year if not more, but that was then and this is now.

Exactly, Dwash is uniquely stupid because I'm not sure if there is another case in the league like him where a guy got suspended for multiple substance policy violations, got reinstated and followed that up by pleading guilty to domestic violence because he broke his ex girlfriends collarbone.

I'm surprised it's a year but I'm not that surprised. It's kindof like when you let your diet go through the holidays and quit going to the gym, then in January you finally get back on the scale and you're like REALLY? 10 lbs? Dangit... You knew it was coming but you hoped it wouldn't be THAT bad. :(

We are all disappointed because this guy is a beast on the field, we all love the Cardinals and the Cardinals need him bad, but honestly guys there's nobody to blame here except Dwash.

haha...to be honest, even calling anyone who feared it would be a year wasn't completely out to lunch. Domestic abuse is looked at as a much bigger no no in society these days then a DUI, for whatever reason. Throw in the fact that Washington was already on thin ice and the book was going to get thrown at him. The Ray Rice thing probably just made matters worse. That was a PR nightmare for the league and they have to make statements at this point to get out from under these idiots and they're behavior.

I think he failed another drug test and the length has little to do with the domestic violence incident. John Clayton said on the radio to expect a 2 game suspension for Ray Rice. Any other explanation just doesn't make a ton of sense.

As they should. I talked about this last week, the league needs to come down hard on all these idiots because it is out of control.

I mean seriously, I dont want an NFL where I have to constantly put my conscience aside and cheer for guys like; "Hey I love these guys they are heck of football players! Even though that guy has 4 DUI's, that one beat up his wife, that one raped a girl in the bathroom, and that one, he's my favorite player, he got caught with hookers and blow, etc...."

Like I said before, I dont expect these guys to be saints but they can do better than this.

It is official. This suspension has nothing to do with his court case. He got popped for weed again. Which means he will most likely also have a suspension for 2015 for his court case.

man...if he did, this FO has to be taken to task for giving him that 10 million dollar bonus and not preparing for contingencies. they've done A LOT right in the last couple years, but if this is what went down, that's a major mess up.

Apparently unrelated to beating up the girlfriend. So might be more than a year. Great. Looking like he might get released

HE'S A FREAKING IDIOT.

Screw that guy. He continually hurts the team and other people. Good riddance to players who screw the team and everyone around them.
