but they could have renegotiated that bonus that was coming due...or just decided not to pick it up. they had leverage there.

Yeah they could have let him go but then you lose one of your best defensive players. I guarantee D-Weed looked Keim in the eye and said he had made changes and this wouldn't happen again.

That's what is so infuriating about this. D-Weed was given a second chance and he still screwed the team. He literally stuck a dagger in this teams back.

I'm just disgusted. This is so dumb on so many levels. He has to be cut. There is no way you bring him back. He needs treatment.

anyone who continually hurts themselves this way and hurts others (his baby momma) has to have pretty damn big issues. issues I don't want my team dealing with anymore.

Keim is pissed, "It’s completely unacceptable that Daryl has once again put us in this position" I dont think they knew about this a few months ago when they gave him the bonus or when they decided on how much they were not going to give to Dansby. If they knew about this in March, Dwash would have been a FA, and Dansby would still be a Cardinal IMO.

"C'mon coach, I was high when I promised that!":D

I guess we should have known. Now thinking about it players in the locker room know what's up. I've heard or read very little support from his teammates. So sad.

and looks like K9 was on to something all those times people laughed at him when he questioned why Washington was never made a captain of the team.

what a clusterbomb.

Wow, insane. A full year for drugs and he'll still have the domestic incident to be suspended for during next season.

We're now in a serious bind out our two star LB's from last season. Really wish we paid Dansby now. Being without both might really screw up our season. Not to mention getting rid of Brinkley.

Now the question goes to who is out there since we're going to need to sign someone now. Pat Angerer? Nick Barnett? Is Johnathan Vilma healthy? Can't remember what exactly his role was in bountygate. Not much out there.

We're also going to see what Larry Foote has to offer.

Unless our front office/coaches think we got a good young guy we as fans don't know about we're going to need to sign someone.

It's still early, and we're getting our OLB's back from injury, but it's still looking like a huge blow to go from Washington/Dansby to Minter/Foote.

Actually as this point I'd say Minter and Alexander/Foote.

This really sucks, and it is entirely possible that Washington has played his last game in a Cardinals uniform. He still may face a 2-6 game suspension in 2015. I do think there is precedent that the 2nd suspension would be lighter then normal due to him missing the entire 2014 season, barring no more screw ups, but if he does miss the first 6 games of 2015 it would mean out of 38 NFL games during 2013, 2014, and first 6 games of 2015, Washington might end up missing 26 out of 38 games due to suspension.

Blackmon's issues might make him done in Jax, and I really can't see how Washington's situation is really any different and thus the same thinking should be applied.

What a shame. Great talent, but oh what a bonehead.

D. Wash was in the substance abuse program....failed twice...this is his third strike

He's out 1 year FOR SURE

He will be suspended AGAIN upon return for the abuse charge. The NFL hasn't even dealt with that yet

2013 4 games
2014 16 games
2015 a minimum of 4-6 games

He has been tested a max of 10 times per month...and he knows it yet failed again.
If he fails again it's a lifetime ban

I agree. Screw this guy and his spot on this team.

Yup

If the cardinals knew why didn't they give dansby whatever he wanted

I would think they knew nothing of this at the time.

NOW, I'm emotionally pissed off. This is just so freaking stupid.

Yup.

I went from man that sucks to screw this guy. If youd rather smoke pot than be on the team, get off the team. The first strikes its like ok whatever but when you know one dirty piss text is a 12 month suspension and you STILL do it? Good bye.

I wondered that too I really suspect there was some personal conduct clause in there that says if he gets suspended for longer than X they get some of it back because the timing as it was they had to know it was possible.

One year surprises me but I can't complain, in the end D Wash has already been in trouble, he needs to be smarter with his behavior.

The 10 mill bonus was put into the contract before he got popped for the first time. Unless they went back after the fact and put in that wording, "we will give you this bonus but we have to add in this wording to the contract first".

Dude,

The initial tweet didn't say what Washington was suspended for. The people who initially replyed assumed it was for his court case. It wasn't until page 5 or 6 of this tread that we found out it was for another failed drug test.

ha. If I hadn't been called on the carpet yesterday for quoting a certain movie line, I definitely would have thrown that line at him today.

I think "stupid" is very fitting :)

Read the thread. Everyone was talking about the abuse charges, not the drug test. the drug test just came out.

Something needed to remembered about this suspension. The wording of it is "at least" one year. It could be more if he doesn't follow the program he is supposed to follow.

Though he's one of my favorite players to watch in Cardinals history, I hope he never puts on a Cardinals jersey again. The guy is an absolute idiot, incredibly selfish, and hit a woman. I just can't cheer for that.
