It is official. This suspension has nothing to do with his court case. He got popped for weed again. Which means he will most likely also have a suspension for 2015 for his court case.

Wow.. just got my prediction in under the wire.

Wow, just wow. Seriously, just cut him. This is unacceptable behavior.

I do not expect Rice to get the same suspension. Washington got the double whammy for getting arrested and for being drunk while being in the substance abuse program. I don't know if Rice was in the substance abuse program when he was drunk and beat his wife, so he will only get the suspension for the abuse. Washington got the suspension both from the personal conduct policy and the substance abuse policy. There is way more to the story everyone here does not know, I wouldn't doubt if they found pot in his system again when he got arrested.

While I don't doubt Washington will get a stiffer suspension than Rice, clearly the baseline penalty has been increased from the days of Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth days.

I can bet the NFLPA is watching the Irsay case intently. He has a prior history (convicted of DUI) and should be facing stiff penalties. I'm not sure the Ray Rice situation (not any priors) is the best comparison, but I bet the over/under on his suspension length went up.

HE'S A FREAKING IDIOT.

Screw that guy. He continually hurts the team and other people. Good riddance to players who screw the team and everyone around them.

I agree. Screw this guy and his spot on this team.

He was already paid in March, technically. Although most teams pay the so called "lump sum" in installments these days so maybe they can hold payment while it goes to arbitration or something. If they are even allowed to take it to arbitration, don't know how all this works.

I don't think they knew back then. If they knew I don't think they would have paid his bonus.

it does call this into question...as it does the constant crap Dansby got as being selfish/not that good/etc./etc. The guy took a payday, but he's been shown to be nothing but a warrior on the field and a good guy off it, as opposed to Washington who know been shown to be a warrior on the field and a disaster off it.

Unfortunately, I agree. It's tough to give up on a guy as talented as DWash, but being suspended for 20 out of 32 games plus another possible suspension for domestic violence plus the possibility of being suspended for even longer if he fails another test is just too much to handle. Time to move on.

you have to think the bonus came with strings though, right?

there are questions to be asked of the FO in the wake of this news. Could they really not have seen this coming at all? That 10 million dollar bonus they gave Washington...did it have any extra strings attached knowing this could be coming down the pike?

I wondered that too I really suspect there was some personal conduct clause in there that says if he gets suspended for longer than X they get some of it back because the timing as it was they had to know it was possible.

One year surprises me but I can't complain, in the end D Wash has already been in trouble, he needs to be smarter with his behavior.

You would have to think they knew during the draft like Cleveland did with Gordon.

Keim is pissed, "It’s completely unacceptable that Daryl has once again put us in this position" I dont think they knew about this a few months ago when they gave him the bonus or when they decided on how much they were not going to give to Dansby. If they knew about this in March, Dwash would have been a FA, and Dansby would still be a Cardinal IMO.

he can be smarter on another team. continually going into seasons paying him big money, taking up cap room and not even knowing if he's going to be on the field is a no-go.

AZ sports is truly cursed.

He signed the contract before his initial suspensions. So I doubt they have any verbage in there for that sort of stuff.

but they could have renegotiated that bonus that was coming due...or just decided not to pick it up. they had leverage there.

Totally agree. D-Weed most likely promised the Cardinals that he had changed his ways. Must have had his fingers crossed with a joint in between them.
