Because the monopoly money is being paid by the teams that still can't compete IMO. What team that has a legit shot has over spent this year?

That all makes sense but do the players look at it the same way? Hopefully Freeney does or he doesn't think a team like the Giants who spent a ton and have Eli could be a contender.

Plus we are kinda desperate for a pass rusher and he "proved it" to BASK last year so maybe that's why he hasn't been re-signed yet, he wants a good contract.

We still need to sign this guy up. Can have someone who can rush from both sides at the same time. As well as depth..

And just think how much better or rather the opportunities for guys like Honey Badger and Peterson who where playing lights out without a decent pass rush... this is really good stuff man :)

I totally agree!

If I was Freeney, the Jones trade makes me want to sign with Arizona even more.

Since it's more than likely Freeney's last year in the league, it wouldn't surprise me if he just went to whichever team offers the most money.

maybe... but remember, he was all but retired last year and was seemingly fine calling it quits. Give him a nice incentive laden deal, and have him and Jones coming off the edge while the youngins come in to spell them and learn and you have the makings of a legit fearsome D.

I agree with an incentive Laden contract. You might wonder what a player would do given the fact he's basically announced his retirement in the offseason.

Perhaps, but I'd imagine that he would rather stay in AZ and wait until much later to sign.

If the Cards pull off a deal with Freeney, Cards become the best team in the NFC, if not, the entire NFL IMO. Only part that is missing is a few pieces on that O line. Jones signing was HUGE for the draft options for us.

We offered up an incentive-laced "prove it" deal.

He proved it.

I would offer him the moon and the stars in another incentive based contract, But throwing the dumptruck of $$.... that he may very well fetch on the open market, scares the hell out of me.

Still, I think he will be signed by AZ after OTAs.

Birdman21 is that you??
No sources, just my opinion. This is his best opportunity, he will wait until camp or later and sign with us vs going to a random system and situation
