Still can't believe Hennigan is actually such an idiot. We had better offers from the Nets, Rockets, Warriors and hell even the Lakers had offered a much better deal earlier.

No point watching the NBA anymore if you don't root for specific players like Kobe, Durant or Lebron. :(

Stern won't block it. It's only bad for small market teams, but for the league as a whole it's better when there are four to five dominant teams in the big markets. Having the Heat, Lakers, Celtics, Nets be good is more important than worrying about fair trades or making sure every team has a legit star or something. The NBA isn't the NFL and can't be run as such, as much as we all would like it to be.

Personally, I'd have kept Bynum and not added Howard, but that's just me.

This is never going to change. Not as long as there are superstars like Howard who proclaim that they will only re-sign with the Lakers or some other big market team. Teams like the Lakers could never clear enough cap room to sign players like Howard, but they don't have to. They don't have to compete with the other 26 teams or so for those players' services. They don't have to offer a lot in a trade.

But in this case, it seems clear that Brooklyn offered a lot more to the Magic, and they were one of few teams he wanted to play for. So why Magic chose to send him for much less to the Lakers instead is mind-boggling. Maybe they didn't want him to stay in the East. But we have certainly seen this before with Gasol and Paul to name a few of the more recent examples. It's as if there is some unwritten agreement among all teams to keep supplying the Lakers with top-tier talent.

Shocking, the Lakers nab another championship center.
Giving up who? Getting to keep their already inflated salaried players who no other team wants!
When does a luxury penalty kick in? Does it even affect them with their TV revenue?

This is why much of pro-sports are becoming a joke. Three or four city monopoly's. Even their bad years are usually better than the small market upticks. IT'S ALL PREDICATED ON THE ALL AMERICAN $$. Good scouting, developing and systems coaching takes a back seat once again. What takes bottom dwellers like the Orlando Magic 5-6 years to develope or retool can be gobbled up by the likes of the LA's, Chicago's, NY's and Miami's with little or no reguard to it's present salary structure because of media revenue and other endorsments that simply do not exist equally in the leagues. There has to be more checks and balances than luxury taxes that can be totally manipulated by the owners because of their teams' locale.

The NFL does quite nicely. Maybe Stern should consider running the NBA as a competitive league rather than an entertainment industry. Who knows how good the NBA could be if it were well run. The attendance might follow. I think Stern has put the cart before the horse and that is why he has to keep selling the big markets. The Thunder is an example of how the NBA should be run.

This is why the NBA is a farce to me right now. Players holding teams hostage is getting real old. Paul, Melo, Lebron, Howard. It's a joke. And this super-team crap is going to kill the league IMO. The divide between the haves and have-not's grows wider again.

And now with Howard, our 4 picks we got will never be less than #25.

The Lakers are the NBA's version of Kate Upton..... Everyone else will do anything to get a chance to get into bed with them.

Orlando and Memphis just served as the Lakers farm team (remembering the Gasol trade). This is much different than what the Suns did with Nash. The Suns did a deal that was in their own best interest. It would really suck to be an Orlando fan.

By the way, we might as well be content with mediocrity. No hope of anything else as Li.g as the league runs this way.

I wonder whether Hill is regretting his decision to go to the Clippers instead. He'd be a clear upgrade over Megga Fool Artest in the Lakers' new all-star lineup.

Nash-Bryant-Artest-Gasol-Howard?!?!?!?!?

For real?!?!?

Damn! That's a guaranteed ring. Defensively, Nash is their only weakness. There's NO way MIA or anyone in the East can hang with that....

I don't know over the hill Kobe having played Olympics this summer, over the hill Pau, Olympics this summer. Over the hill Nash. Howard coming off back surgery.

I guess we'll see how it plays out.

Bynum's a rental and Igoudala is an overpaid overage for a team that already has decent players at his position.

Igoudala is a clear upgrade over Afflalo who will fit well next to Gallinari and Chandler. I also really doubt Bynum is going to pass up the additional money the 6ers can offer plus he'll be close to his hometown.

I know he is only being included because his contract gives him negative value, but I think Richardson will also be a good pick up. The Lakers needed to add some more 3pt shooting.

Now Kobe has a chance to match Pippen's 6 rings.

Richardson is going to the 76ers.

Lakers got Howard, Duhon, and former Sun Earl Clark

Thing is, Orlando is stupid. They want to suck. The second best chip in the deal isn't even going to them. They didn't want Bynum, because they want picks, crap and to suck into the lottery. Just bizarre.

If they get the #1 pick I guess Noel Nerlens would be the closest thing to a Dwight Howard. They should have done this trade last year and had a chance for Anthony Davis. ORL is taking a huge gamble and LAL is reaping the benefits. The NBA is a joke, so much for a level playing field.

The rich get richer, this league has no stories... We can guess the teams in the Finals... Heat vs. LA or Heat vs. OKC. Done deal. No real rooting interest for fans of other teams except watch lesser players play good and be happy that some of the players made the All Star game, yippy!

When I heard this last night my level of surprise was zero. I'd blame the Lakers' Jedi mind tricks, but the simple reality is that they were patient and confident while Orlando panicked. The Lakers know that even though they can't outspend like the Yankees because of the salary cap, they are nonetheless in continual position to benefit from the discontent of stars in most other markets.

The bigger question to me is whether this is a franchise-killer in Orlando. And it definitely makes any outrage about the Nash trade seem pedestrian in comparison. I don't want to say I'm happy Nash is in a Lakers jersey. But I'm glad the Suns secured a return. To be a Magic fan today must stink.
